Guys,
Have purchased this phone in the UK from play.com at £299 unconnected, seems like the best price and avaliabilty right now! Switching from SE P1i.
Build quality is superb! (compared to other current Nokias).
No problems with Wifi or Camera reported by other users?? within last 48hrs.
Battery performance not great but much better with 3G and wifi switched off when not required.
Also no issues with call/reception quality or max ring/alarm volume.
So far very impressed with:-
Calendar,GPS, Synch options, mass of pre-installed software,
Less impressed with:-
Not much! New OS takes time to figure out, battery could be better.
A great phone so far, dont be put off giving it a try!!

I had exactly the same feel after reading all these comments; I had my mind set on an E66 (and was really excited) but then started to doubt after reading this stuff. Anyway, I just made the order yesterday and should be receiving the phone tomorrow.
I read the review on http://www.smape.com/en/reviews/nokia/Nokia_E66-rev.html which was so positive (though this website does write good reviews) that I decided buying the phone couldn't be a bad decision. I think as long as you aren't browsing the Internet and using GPS all the time, battery life won't be too bad. And I think the reception will be not be the best Nokia phones come with, but since Nokia phones generally come with really great reception, that doesn't mean the E66 reception is bad.

I am about to spend a lot of money buying the E66. The most important thing for my business is being able to reliably receive incomming calls. Can 3G be turned off when not needed, as this usually helps improve call reliability (on Orange UK this works). Some comments from E66 users on reception compaired to what they had before would be most helpfull

yay finally got the phone. Got it for really cheap, around Malaysian ringgit 1,550. im really excited bout this phone considering my last phone was a nokia 6680 which i had used for 2 years.
4 things i wish nokia couldve done better on e66.
1) the battery life. after some time of messing around with the wifi and gps, the battery had already gone down by 2 bars. I hope nokia addresses this problem so tht they can issue a new extended battery or somethin.
2)the sound is not loud enough. the default alarm tone barely woke me up when compared to my 6680, which never fail to wake me up. i think even the alarm on my e51(used it briefly before i lost it :( ) was louder than e66, since thay hv the same default alarm tone.
3) signal strength is weaker than my 6680.
4) the camera. for a 3.2mp cam, it really sucks. worse in dark places despite the LED flash. but then again, i told myself, "i dont need a good cameraphone," when i bought this phone.
overall though the sleek, slim design, the auto rotation, and wifi overcomes the drawbacks and probably the only things tht are keeping me from sending it back to the shop :)

you may have a defective unit, you cant blame it ... moreA faulty unit was my first thoght too but... If you keep an E66 or an E71 in your palm just like talking you'll be surprized to see the signal droping adn even desapearing. I made this test at the dealers shop (in the midle of my home town, at 2 m from the all glass doors !). One possible cause: the GSM antenna might be placed at the bottom of the unit under the metal cover.
And about Symbian: it simply does not fit my needs of quick operation of a mobile phone! Id rather like the S40.

I just returned the phone to the store today and they said that the software should be upgraded since it is still using the old version. I thought this is a new phone, how come the e90 which is older work perfectly and thuis is not
