AnonD-18125, 06 Dec 2012Windows Phone Store is just a garbage of wastes. Less apps,... moreI agree with games. They lack on WP7.x and also quality is questionable and also most of are paid. But quality of dedicated apps (sans games) is top notch. Just compare any app, accuweather, facebook, zomato.. just for example.. 95% apps have better quality on WP than their android counterpart. Again same may be paid on WP but free on Android but quality is certainly better. Games are horrible though. But situation is improving. EA and many developers have announced many new titles for WP8. 40 xbox compatible games are coming in next couple of months alone according to announcement during WP8 launch.
Also, many people who are into technology believes that quantity of apps especially games will increase rapidly in coming days as it WP8 shares same kernel (windows NT) with its desktop counterpart (W7 and W8) and porting of code is very easy between these two platforms.

I would advice to take benefit of Nokia's one of the WP program. They had it during Lumia 800 launch and I am sure they will relaunch it when Lumia 920 is launched. Via this program, you pay full amount of phone, buy it and if not satisfied in 15 days, can return it and take 100 % money back. It was a genuine program by Nokia at authorized priority outlets.

Windows Phone Store is just a garbage of wastes. Less apps, thats acceptable but they are very very much overpriced comparing App Store and Google Play. And even the quality of those apps(mostly games) are questionable. I found every good games are paid. Not a single good game there for free! Shame on microsoft. Quality and Quantity both sucks. Top developers are completely away from WP platform, but why! Come on Gameloft, EA and others.

However, windows may have good quality apps. It is possible. I haven't used it so I can say nothing about it. Only the one who have used both OSs in depth can tell better.

If you are looking for more than that, you can always hack a phone and do whatever. There are many third party ROM are available for WP that allow more customization than what microsoft does.
If you still want more, WP is simply not for you, not even iOS.

Dear, that is opposite of what you think. Linux is very RAM friendly but the thing is Android is a layer of a Java on the top of Linux kernel. virtualization is done to run Java code in Linux environment. Its called as Sand boxing. Google this for more info: Android java sandboxing on linux
And because of sandboxing, RAM consumption is very high. It is similar to running OS into OS through Virtualization.
That is why Android ICS consumes around 180-200 MB of RAM on low end devices and 256 MB RAM devices lags a lot because of low free RAM. When custom launchers are present like Touch wiz or Sense, situation is even worse.
WP 7 on the other hand runs on its own windows CE kernel (WP 8 also runs on native kernel of Microsoft called as windows NT kernel). It requires much less RAM because of this. WP 7.5 runs smoothly on 256 MB RAM and WP 8 will run smoothly on 512 MB RAM. HTC 8S also has same amount of RAM. Check its videos for smoothness of WP 8 on 512 MB RAM.

how many function a smartpjone has?
10, 15. When we talk about 700.000 app in marketplace we talk in fact about variation of 15 function of an smartpjone more or less. What we could have? We have 25kapps app for gps for instance, 65kapps for camera 150kapps for browsing and so on. In my opinion the number of app in marketplace is not relevant. The quality of apps and licensing type of apps instead are relevant.

AnonD-78229, 06 Dec 2012Ah ok, I've never used windows phones. That's nice to hear ... moreYes, of course. There is a Windows Phone Store installed on every WP similar to Play Store on Android. If you hack your phone (similar to jail braking on iPhone and rooting on android) then you can also install apps from other stores such as bazzar. You can even install apps from any sources on hacked phone (called as side loading of app).
Regarding number of apps. Android is unmatched for it. There are around 700000 apps on play store. Windows phone store instead has around 120000 apps. But from my experience with both these platforms, some points are worth to take note of:
1) Android has many widgets, skins, launchers on play store which falls under apps. My estimate is around 10% apps on android falls in this category. WP is made in different way. There are no skins. Instead you can change theme and those are built into OS, no apps for that. Similarly there are live tiles in WP instead of widgets in android. Those are part of apps and no separate apps for tiles. So naturally, WP will loose out in number of apps.
2) More number of apps in Android are free compared to WP. In WP, ratio of paid apps to free apps is higher and also price is higher for similar paid apps than android.
3) Quality and UI of WP apps is much more consistent, uniform and better in WP. There are guidelines for WP app developers about UI. Generally all apps follow that and resemble to beautiful metro UI concept. Android apps have different times of UI and loose out to smoothness, performance, consistency of their WP counterpart.
4) There are much lesser apps to play with system tool. Because of closed nature of OS, Microsoft restricts that. Naturally, again WP looses to Android in sheer number of apps on this front.
In short, apps on android are more about quantity and apps on WP are more about quality. There are many quality apps on android too, I am not denying that but I am talking about overall things based on my wide experience with both OS.
