Minu, 27 Feb 2023On a positive note, you can try universal spare parts on HM... moreWhen someone buys a phone and it gets a problem, he/she prefers to take the phone to customer care location in their country so that it can be fixed. When you say a customer should try universal spare parts, it sounds too technical. For instance if an iphone falls and the touch screen cracks, it's easy for an iphone user to take it to an iphone authorized dealer to get his/her phone screen replaced.

This is where HMD has failed. It doesn't matter if HMD is focusing on building a sturdy phone, so long as they don't create spare parts in the countries they are selling the phone to, HMD will lose customers.

I come from Kenya and in my country, if there is a problem with a phone, it's very simple, take it to the authorized dealer and he will fix it. But unfortunately here in Kenya and other countries Nokia don't have spare parts. Many Kenyans that have bought Nokia phones are angry that there are no spare parts.

So far the X30 and G60 haven't arrived in Kenya and it should not because HMD will make losses trying to convince Kenyans in buying the phone. Currently Kenyans are telling other Kenyans not to buy Nokia phones due to the authorized Nokia dealers not having spare parts.

Carol, 26 Feb 20231. Actually customer care is quite good from them, especial... moreNokia is the only phone that doesn't have spare parts. What I mean by spare parts is when my screen cracks, is there a replacement? For Nokia No.

Imbukwa, 26 Feb 2023Nokia under HMD global has weaknesses. 1. Poor customer ... moreOn a positive note, you can try universal spare parts on HMD's phones instead of finding "company spare parts", if they designed and manufactured their own components, it would be both expensive and difficult to find

Nokia fan, 26 Feb 2023Thanks a lot. How about your thoughts on oppo and Vivo devi... moreI had look at display models of oppo phones before in shops and stores
Remember them as the phone I couldn't get too corporate with what I was trying to do

I was never able understand there software layout or navigation systems works and the touch screen don't behave in the way I would naturally control a phone

There seems be a huge learning curve too them
They run colour os is there favours of Android on oppo phones

As someone control the exact position and of screen and movements am not used too how they seem too work and auto adjust or at least what I think there doing

There quite expensive normally I think
Not too sure about there hardware as am not actually that familiar with them

I have no experience with Vivo phones or seen any of them in person but know of them

Nokia fan, 25 Feb 2023Is Nokia a better brand than Huawei? I really want to love ... moreGuess what? I was first discouraged by my own peers to buy Nokia phones running Android.
My peers used Samsung phones at the time, and they were surprised at how good my phone's photos look with Google camera which no Samsung or BBK phone so far managed to run it stably. Plus the ringtones in Nokia phones are pretty attention-grabbing compared to most other brands.
I'm definitely pleased with my phone since I've never seen any $200 giving a better user experience

I still don't understand why some people here see these statements as sugarcoating.
There's no point in judging anybody based on the brands they like lol

Nokia fan, 26 Feb 2023Thanks a lot. How about your thoughts on oppo and Vivo devi... moreThey are indeed very overpriced here.
I remember BBK phones always had selfie filters as a USP and a super cheap price.
Now they sell mediocre phones at high prices, especially in markets like ours.
Reno and IQOO devices aren't even sold here unfortunately

Since both are sold here at the same price, I find the X30 better value

Nokia fan, 26 Feb 2023Thanks a lot. How about your thoughts on oppo and Vivo devi... morenot all oppo and vivo phones are bad though, the reno7 5g and reno8 5g offers the similar price to the x30, while vivo offers v25 pro, also around at $500 range. those are better performing phones than 695, even though its mediatek.. if none of those sold in your region, then you could choose a samsung, but requires additional research.

                      3. Half of this might be true, they release the updates slower then google, still faster then most.
                      4. Lower specs is hard to call it like that just because of a cpu, that is not only unfair, but also just talking without testing it's performance first.

Nokia fan, 25 Feb 2023Is Nokia a better brand than Huawei? I really want to love ... moreIf you buy a devices based on what your friends think about it, it is already very wrong. If your friends laugh at you and your decision about buyin' certain brands, then you need better friends that also have some gray matter.
As for the Nokia devices, they are considered expensive by a bunch of tech wannabes.
I find them okayish, definetly on the pricier side in comparison to chinese "brands", but the comparison mostly forgets the important "non garbage OS" part, and sustainability. If you want to buy a no bloatware device with long term support, you have only two choices, nokia or google pixel or fairphone. Motorola (well, lenovo) are notoriously known for never updating their devices.
It you want nokia but do not have to much to spend, go for x20 (if big does not bother you) it flyes with android 13 and has a pretty good camera too. If not, g60 is quite good too, still not on android 13 tough.

                          2. No spare parts if phone gets spoilt. Maybe battery spare parts are available.
                          3. OS updates take forever to come and when they arrive they come with lots of bugs that HMD take forever to fix.
                          4. Its a low specs phone.

Nokia fan, 25 Feb 2023Is Nokia a better brand than Huawei? I really want to love ... moreRedmi would be the best choice. There's some bloatware and ads, but there are instructions online on how to disable these completely, it's a two minute process.

About Huawei, if you can find a p30, that phone was awesome. Best camera ever, quality build, fast processor, and last model to have Google services. Unfortunately, its software is outdated now, so it'll need a 3rd party ROM.

Nokia x30 is a beauty, but there are better choices at this price range, like the Pixel 6a. In my mind, the Nokia should be priced at 270.

Is Nokia a better brand than Huawei? I really want to love nokia phones but I don't wanna be teased among my peers who use iPhones and Samsungs.
I don't know which is the so called perfect brand to pick, for one I love stock android, for another, I want a phone that will be respected when I hold it. Please help (and I also think vivo and oppo aren't good value for money because they are overpriced)

Which brand is good enough and affordable with decent specs, preferably a brand that has less bloatware?
I'm a kid under 18 but I'm into smartphones and the smartphone world

Wish this had wireless charging and USB 3.1. That would further improve on the sustainability mantra as it would make the phone more future-proof and give an option to charge should the port break and the user is unable to replace.

Oh and the usual: MicroSD slot and headphone jack.

Nokia almost had it - pure, clean (best-looking Android skin imo) software, solid build quality, decent power and cameras, good battery and a compact-ish size. Also an OLED screen on a Nokia for once!

Motorola Edge 30 Neo is one step ahead of this phone because it's got the perfect form factor and wireless charging. One step closer to the perfect mid-ranger for me...

Slower developement and updates because of not beeing a giant like google and "good quality profesionals" (Whatever that means... but for sure something you keep on talking about) are two very different things. You need to keep your receiving ear in check, it makes no sense.

Even so, they are actually not very slow at updating, they are okayish. There are other companies, as i already said, that even tough are huge in comparison, still don't update their devices as fast as hmd. Here i could count almost all android manufacturers. So if you do not like hmd just buy google, and stop complaining for no reason... by god, the entire conversation makes no sense.
