Carol, 12 Nov 2022I do not agree on that, nokia 9 has 6GB RAM and is smooth a... moreYeah
Nokia 9 pureview is smooth as you don't fill the smartphone with too many apps

The Nokia 9 pureview does also have the advantage of running Android 10 that is a lighter
then a android 12 in terms of performance

The problem lays when you need a lot of apps installed as not everyone just runs a smartphone with bare minimum amount of apps

Some people do need a lot of different apps installed

This a uniquely android problem with ram management system as this problem is at it's worsed on Android as apps can't sit in cold storage

Yeah bigger storage definitely helps and leaving a little bit of storage free for swop space
64gb or 128gb a good minimum target

As most people are not tech savvy and can't manage ram usage or want too considently trying optimise stuff too make there phone run a little bit smoother
well they can't make the most of it the ram amount they have

With android 12 os minimum at 6gb ram again 8gb ram just solid advice for buying new smartphones today

It's hard too tell people they have storage but can't use it for apps people do expect they storage too be available for usage for android apps

Carol, 12 Nov 2022True, i have owned flagships since i use smartphones, almos... moreYeah the Nokia 3.1 I like it's sluggish but given it only cost me 50 pound it's very forgiveable at this price point

A big problems I have is am income and budget restrained so as much as I like too just buy a flagship I can't I just don't have the money

So Nokia 3.1 it is that has too multi task run heavy games like mobile legends & polywar and do other kinds of heavy lifting it's really not cut out for

The browser also could be a lot smoothly if only the specs where better

The 2gb ram / 16 storage a real struggle I also like using dual screen mode and screen overlays more tasks that are more domanding then just simple browsing

It's aging really fast considering the work-load but it's barely holding on its going too need too last till next year till I can buy a more powerful smartphone takes over the heavy tasks

Carol, 12 Nov 2022Hmm, i do not find google to be blamed to much about androi... moreYeah
Manufacturers not updating a too newer versions of Android is a problem

The excuse razer made is not water tight given the specs it has

I do take razer word as genuine as razer as been consident with there opinions even though razer thinks Snapdragon 845 8gb ram is a
      potato phone

A lot of there customers did end up installing custom android ROMs on the razer phone too get around this problem

It's sad razer not in the phone business anymore
Android 9 definitely is not the end of the would either

For reference most android emulators run Android 7 OS like Andy OS for example no problems at all with app compatibility

Yeah Chinese brands still have android 4 installed on smartphones and tablets this is bad for every one other then perhaps people who want legacy apps working for some reason or another

on the other side old hardware and new software just don't mix well updates have always lead too slow down of smartphones

Some devices can never be updated
      Like my yotaphone 2

Another company that want down the drain this one really hurt as I was a huge fan of there smartphones

The yotaphone 2 had dual screens and want from Android 4 updated too android 6

It's so good it got them updates as android version updates from 4 too 6 is a full would of difference between them in terms of app compatibility

As the company is rip sadly
Yotaphone 2 gets no longer software support
It's still the best smartphone I own today as it find the best solution too performance & battery life but being 32bit is a problem

Even if I could update the yotaphone 2 more I probably wouldn't as even so it's got 2gb ram & Snapdragon 800

technology it's more powerful than my Nokia 3.1 the compatibility difficulties with the back screen make it a no go
Plus it's really sluggish and overheats easily and the hardware really weared out from year's of usage and a battery charge on top

There is also no custom ROM out there
      for yotaphone 2 either

So I do wish Google would keep supporting old android versions as not all devices can be updated

Sin, 12 Nov 2022Am not familiar with symbian os It's a old version o... moreNot an old linux version, was/is an OS written in C++ and GPL. The OS was so good optimized i could play Asphalt on my Nokia N8 connected via mini hdmi cable to a 720p TV without to manny lags, and with 512MB RAM. While Multitasking 15 Apps that were actually working in Background and not put to sleep like in Android or IOS. There is no match with the performance devices this day deliver, but to what cost do they deliver that performance?

Sin, 11 Nov 2022People definitely should look for display modals of smartph... moreI do not agree on that, nokia 9 has 6GB RAM and is smooth as a butter even after 3 and half years of usage. But well, it does matter if you know what you're doing when working with a smartphone, or if you are blind installing any crappy app you can find, that hog the device. What you install is very important, some apps can cause even a flagship to go hey lo, crazy lagging, crashing and fealling like a 3 euros device. So the user is definetly one of the reasons why a phone works, and why a phone does not work. Another important point would be the phone storage. I would not recomand any device with storage below 64 GB RAM. That is the bare minimum for android. Believe it or not, the storage holds a huge chunk of responsabily for performance, especially in hog OS's like Android, more so then RAM. Buy a device with 64 GB storage and 2 gb ram, then buy the same with 32 gb storage and you'll notice very fast what i am talking about. Hack, buy 3g GB storage phone with a 3GB RAM, and you'll notice the performance differences. So, when buying a low budget phone, i would first look at the storage and screen, maximum 720p. Then at the rest, cause well, budget won't pack the SD 888 for sure. As i've said, you got to know what you are buying and why.

Sin, 10 Nov 2022Morse law is a problem for old hardware with trying too run... moreTrue, i have owned flagships since i use smartphones, almost 20 years now. But using x30 does not feel any worse, and thats a lot comming from a guy like me. Of course there are tasks that are sometimes done a tad bit slower than on a flagship, but is nothing i would call a deal breaker, not even close, especially with that great Battery life i can squese out of it, and also the very fine camera it holds. For the moment am very happy with the device. Well besides the here and there bugs that should be crushed with comming updates. Well, should tough be taken in consideration that i do not play games on phones, besides the typical cards or bricks, or whatever game that i only play when there is really nothing better to do. I saw it tough playing this "ganjing" whatever game, without to much struggle, putting the geme at lower settings would make it smooth. But anyway, when i buy something, i know it's limitations, or better said, pros and cons, i never buy a 170 euros device and expect it to run like a 1300 euro device, some people seem to forget how much they pay and for what.

Sin, 10 Nov 2022Yeah You would think so Android 10 on that tier of ha... moreHmm, i do not find google to be blamed to much about android updates or OS version support, that remains mostly at the hands of the manufacturers, if manufactures do not want to update, it won't be updated. And of course, a big part is in the hands of qualcome if we talk OS updates and not just security or improvement updates. Not a long time ago, chinese brands would have still install android 4 or so on their devices, i do not know if they still do it, but i know that google does not certify them anymore, but that's about it.
And about the Razer again, no matter what you think, they could have updated the device without a problem, the OS is to "heavy" is a very lame excuse for the mass. As far as i know they also stopped building phones all together, so they most probably did not want to invest anymore time and money in supporting the not that successfull phones, they saw no worth into doing that and also got out of the smartphon market sooner the expected.

Carol, 11 Nov 2022Yeah, android is not a good OS overall, symbian was 3900000... moreAm not familiar with symbian os
It's a old version of Linux I think on old Nokia phones
It must be much better optimised then android

                Yeah android
got a lot of problems with optimization
And ram management also android is a heavy is in general

Even the most powerful smartphones can be brought too there knees if you install enough android apps on them in just storage alone

It's a very uniquely android problem as apps can't sit in cold storage they just can't help but sip away at system resources

All i have ever know is android on mobile
Android does have strengths it's nearly a full functional desktop os with great app compatibly

But running smoothly on low end hardware is not one of them strengths I don't have high hopes for Google making any improvements with later versions of android most likely they just add spyware or lock down features

Android 12 feels rushed and like we are beta testing it the Nokia g10 shouldn't be running this badly with it's level hardware

The only other OS I have experience with is windows on desktop then there's Microsoft

wow Microsoft managed too make a OS even heavyer then android and the storage space needed for a boot drive is insanity and ram usage of window os especially the later versions with godlike system requirements just too run the os alone without considerable lagging and slow down is Madness's

It's really unfortunate as app developers and big companys are only targeting the latest and greatest flagship device's & smartphones with the best hardware available

So low end smartphones just suffering trying too cope with running the android os smoothly and mainstream apps and not every one can afford a better smartphone

The problem with android is that google never actually optimised it for working, but only for implementing their crappy AI, assisetent and whatever other "legal" privacy infrigment "features", but not for actually working with low end drvices, i've heard android 13, would change the game, i doubt, but well, who knows.

Definitely worth giving a update on performance in a year or two on the Nokia x30

I did try Android 11 go edition Nokia c01 plus is a Androidgo smartphone

but it turned out how not too make a OS and smartphone instead of optimization making it work better the 1gb ram amount optimization just can't save it from it's performance problems

The Nokia 3.1 with 2gb ram I have even although it's running the full version of Android and has no storage space thanks too updates
                    It runs AndroidOne

The Nokia 3.1 does run a lot better sluggish yes but it's at least usable

all Nokia had too do was made the Nokia c01 plus a 2gb ram and it would of been fine

There a lot of bad corner cutting too make Androidgo edition light also and it's the worst Android version I ever used having some problems with pages never fully loading for reading stuff online and killing off apps force closed browser when am watching a video

Old Android version with 1gb ram still run terrible as ever but don't have software problems like Androidgo

Yeah the os matter the ram amount does a lot also

I wish more information was available on storage with smartphones as it's a hidden variable that plays a big role in performance

Am sure everyone knows the difference between a harddrive boot drive Vs a SSD for the os running smoothly

I hope SSD storage comes a thing on mainstream smartphones soon

sin, 11 Nov 2022I just looked up official system requirements for android 1... moreSeen no real performance issues with x30, and it is a midrager, i doubt that flagships have problems with android 12. Also UFS 3 delivers up to 11,2 Gbps ( means 1375MB/s) read write speeds on one lane, can go way higher on two. Of course that this does not mean that the storage installed can also deliver those crazy speeds, but well, the BUS (or whatever the connection is called this days in smartphones) is for sure not the bottleneck here. So i would not worry to much about performance, Especially based on ram or storage. The problem will always be the OS itself, if good optimised or not really. Low end and very low end smartphones, might suffer because of RAM, but there commes android 13 go edition, so all good.

I just looked up official system requirements for android 12 the future looks grim

Google Android 12 hardware level requirements include 6GB RAM

                        There was minimum storage
                        speeds as well
At least 120MB/s sequential write, 250MB/s sequential read, 10MB/s random write, and 40MB/s random read speed

But no smartphone manufacturer adds storage read & write specs too there spec sheet

A lot of smartphones going really suffer this a very tall order too meet

I think Google has gone completely crazy they some serious hardcore specs too need too meet system requirements just for android 12

I have seen complaints across the board from different brands with performance problems on smartphones running android 12

Minu, 11 Nov 2022I have no reason to mislead anybody. The reason why I said ... morePeople definitely should look for display modals of smartphones in shops too see how good they are for themselves

As it's best too see different smartphones for yourself in person and see in person with first hand experience

Am kinda the tech support in my house as well as my mum have had used enough difference smartphones too be able too estimate performance

8 ram and above is smooth
4 & 6 GB ram is moderate performance
2 or 3 GB ram is sluggish
1gb ram don't even work properly

A better processor we help with performance as single tasks and reloading something will be quicker

Android versions will also play a role the later versions of Android are a lot heavyer and run worse on same hardware

Stock Android runs smoother than blootware filled Android on same hardware

I can't guarantee a smartphone under 8gb of ram will be smooth

All of us have agreed under 8gb ram is not smooth

Mainstream apps & browser's and new Android versions are getting heavyer ever year

I strongly recommend 2gb ram bare minimum
I feel very bad suggesting 1gb ram smartphones any longer

I have the Nokia 3.1 & Nokia c01 plus 50 pound budget priced each new

I was impressed by the Nokia 3.1 given the price point
It seemed ok at first for a month
                            but then
consistent freezing happens sometimes it can behave it's self sometimes but it sure is sluggish just lags no matter what you're doing on it

The Nokia c01 plus on the other hand is a disgrace am disgusted by how badly it runs the browser keeps closing it's self pages keep reloading even web pages that do manage too load don't always fully load everything on the page
I feel like I got ripped off buying it

The Nokia c01 plus was so bad in performance I switched back too using the Nokia 3.1 because at least it works

                            The Nokia g10
Got for my mum but my mum needs replacement as
The Nokia g10 is obsolete main reason we buy new phones is always for better performance
phone a smartphone like the OnePlus 5 or 5t is ideal for her as they have 8gb ram

Nokia g10 always crashes freezing up black screen time out of 15secs no matter how many times we sit it too 5 minutes it goes back to 15sec after another crash
If only we could get it back too Android 11 it might run better

Nokia phones like the Nokia 5.1 that is the improved version of my Nokia 3.1
And avoiding base model we be less sluggish

I do also have the yotaphone 2 this was a flagship of 2014 Snapdragon 800 & 2gb ram but even it has aged so badly in terms of performance

Often performance problems come more notice able after a half year of using a smartphone

People who multi task and are inpatient performance will make or break a smartphone for them

Most of my lecturers and teachers use Nokia phones such as the 3 (with low end mediatek processors), 5, 6, 3.1, 4.2, 2.3 (with that barebones Helio A22), 1.4 (with a SD215) etc and I've never seen anybody complain about consistent freezing (except in certain heavy apps like Google chrome) or having reliability issues (except in 1GB RAM models, that's why I don't recommend buying any phone with 1GB RAM). At least they do the job well, even if they aren't for heavy gaming.

                                  Hopefully it will be ok

How well the performance will age is a unknown too me and how well the hardware will hold up with the latest android versions and software
Feedback on performance will be helpful

Carol, 10 Nov 2022Well with that hardware, is very hard to believe that andro... moreYeah
                                    You would think so

Android 10 on that tier of hardware snapdragon 845 &8gb ram
                                    should be no problem

The umdigi a9 pro 8gb ram & mediatek hello p60 still
Not as powerful as the razor phone 2 also
But was on android 10 and updated too android 11 was rather smooth
(Both are stock android smartphones )

I think Google is too blame for making new android versions too heavy and hard too run
And ending support for old versions of android

It's clear Razer see things very differently too brands like Nokia

Razer nope don't meet system requirements
Flagship gaming smartphone of the time

Nokia easily let's upgrade even the budget androids phones 2 new android versions no problem

Google not set very clear system requirements for each android version

Am upset with Google as they shouldn't ended support for old android versions like 9 8 7 6 5 & 4
especially considering most android emulaters run android 7 and many old smartphones are still good today but stuck on old android versions forever

Minu, 10 Nov 2022The smoothness of a phone doesn't indicate the experie... moreThat's rather miss leading when you say it like that

Yeah stock android runs smoother on the same tier of hardware

Bloatware is a generally problem on android smartphones and can handlycap a android smartphone because of system resources being used in the background

This can be done too any smartphone as a result of having too many apps running in the background

A smartphone 3 or 4 times the price of you're Nokia 8 say a gaming smartphone will completely abliterate it in performance

Even the very old and dated red magic 3s with just 12gb ram
Still be much faster in the OS UI & browser

We are stock android fans around here so yeah we think stock android is the best

The Nubia red magic phone running red magic ul is not are prefered version of android and does have problems such as missing a app draw and having change back too button navigation

The user experience we can agrue stock android is better and it's better too get software support for many years

This is something we like about the Nokia phones yeah the phones like Nokia 8 & 9 must be a lot smoother then mine

Phones like the Nubia phones do have some special features like given you greater control over you're GPU & CPU & cooling and built in gaming mode with hardware switch

I have only used the original one

But can see sheer power of them and responsiveness of them

Even the original was so fast and responsive sensitive we struggled using it before we got more used too it's speed changed a few settings

They are beyond silky smooth I can't even imagine how fast there maximum spec latest flagship is
