Hi
Managed to get the mp3 working this weekend (had problems with my card reader previously) and it has fantastic sound! Abi, you should just need to drag your mp3's into your removable memory drive and then put the card back in the phone. You should find them in the mp3 player and can pick and choose what you want to play. One word of advice....the phone only supports mp3's so don't expect to find anything else in the phone that you may put on the card....
A question of my own for the forum....How do you get your mp3's to play in a specified order as currently I can not play an album in order??? There doesn't seem to be any way of doing this....any ideas?
Minor draw back but would be nice to overcome if poss.

Sids absolutely right! I wanted a nokia 7210 but for some weird reason there's no proper mp3 support, no fm radio and no ifra-red. All this is supported by the cheaper (but non 'smart') nokia 6230. All nokias seem to have their expertise in certain areas. Or no expertise at all!

Hi akin, I've got the software on CD so I'll give it to you first thing in the morning, as it's 2:30 am now. So dont worry about that.

As for the feature of phones, now you may find this interesting, For my final year individual project at universisty, I chose to do research on holograms and how it can be implemented in communication devices such as projectors and messagin devices, like you see in Star Wars.

Well my research took me to a UK based company who are trying to implement holograhic technology into projectors that are pocket size this will lead to mobile phones, at the moment they are working on 2D holograms and in black and white and they have managed to do this. The company said at one of their press releases that they recon it will be available within the next 3 to 5 years.

So you might be watching holograic movies on ur one day, who knows.

Regarding the ultimate phone, I think mobile manufactures deliberately dont pack phones in with all features, like bluthtooth, good quallity screen ect.

My reason to belive this is becuase, we will all be happy with that one phone and there will be no need to get another one for a long time. But thats my personal opinion, any one have any view plz feel free to comment.

In my 2.5 week experience of the phone I found the keypad to be extremely usable for my average size fingers. We are all shocked and appalled yes at the 1.3mp cam. It IS about as good as a vga cam no worse.

But who can deny the following:

The video recording is un matched as far as I can see. 30fps at qcif and 15 at 352x288 is bloody amazing. The cam to screen imaging is mega smooth no jerkiness at all.

The 252k colour screen is fantastic. Never seen Christina aguilera look so clear ;) feel free to make fun of me.

The mp3 player is fantastic; amazing quality sound.

Frankly if the cam was sorted better (or even simply labelled as a vga cam!) people would love this phone I'm sure! I'd still have it but there was just a few problems. Now I'm trying to decide between a 7610 and a s700i. Oh yeah and I saw a 7610 today, I like it but the smoothness of the viewfinder is nowhere near as good as the x3. Video not as good but the 1.0 mp cam is better.

very well said sid.were all after our holy grave of a fone and it looks like its still a long way off.its been said before but it was just under 2 yrs ago i gor video on n3650 & the experts said we would never see video on a device that small, yet the x3 has most up to date screen, mp3 player etc in something smaller than a ciggy packet.we shud all be united together in our quest for a good fully working bug free mobile but remember we are individual so all this squawking about whos best is silly ,my dads is an old phillips & thats all he wants & happy with it.ive heard theres no x4,that wud have been good perhaps all bugs ironed out and a larger screen

People forget that is has a TFT, 256K color screen, thats 4 times for than the standard 65k. And if you managed to convert an AVI file into a mp4 or a 3gp then you know what the film quality is like. The camera issue has ben discussed many times and every body agrees to agree that it is not all that.

It may be a long time until we all own a phone that we are happy with. As for the people who say they had a nokai and then they bought the X3 and how difficult is it, well have you though that you may be used to a nokia phone, it will take some time getting used to. Nokia has so many models that has been given a make over from the software point of view and given a new design. Why is it that nokia is still making phones that doesn't even have a 65k screen. I can point out a few phones of nokia that are around 300 pounds with uter crap features which they have taken from other lower model.

Nick Evans, I am sorry you feel that way, although in my opinion, the phone is good. On the buttons too small, do you just have fat fingers?

The MMS works perfectly, I think its your SIM card...

                      Controls? Nothing wrong with them.

Camera. I dont get any of the problems you specify, only the blurryness.

The phone is not "overrated" and definatly not "overpriced", £150 for a phone which you could get the same spec from Nokia or Sharp or Mitsubishi for £300-£400? I think not.

                      Unknown.

Yes, i do get angry about people who come onto these forums slating the phone just because of the camera, or these people, like yourself, who come on here to take the piss out of people. Its not on. Its the stupid one liners that get me... "Nick you suck" "the phone rocks" "its crap", and again, like yourself, to wimpy to leave a name. And what makes you say all this stuff about a dummy? Unlike you, again, I act my age!

That goes for anyone not going to leave a name!

Hi am new to this site but feel i should sahre my opinions on the x3 having previously owned a nokia 6600 i feel i have been robbed by o2 for an overratted and overexpensive handset. the controls are fiddely buttons too small and the camera images are terrible problems ranging from green in the image to blurring and light spots. you cannot put a space inbetween text on the wapchat or searches why why why? am very dissapointed with it and am going to trade it in for a phone that work well and easily.Oh nearly forgot the multimedia does not work either it says message sent but noone ever gets it ! apart from that it is not a bad phone

Almizer, too true. I am not going to give up on the x3 just yet... lol seeing as it repaired itself!. Al, dont get a s60 phone, as they can get viruses. Im not sure about windows mobile smartphone...

TMG40, lmao at the cone thing. The D500 is selling like hot cakes despite the price :S

I am going to get a new PDA soon, and therefore wont need a smartphone.

Guys, thanks for your support. Greatly appreiciated. Good luck with your new phones. I tend to get a new phone every xmas, so a smartphone it will be next year...

P.S.By the way Nick..having said goodbye to the small clippy thing in the x3 box, I opened the d500 box and found a small cone shaped thing! it is apparently an external speaker and looks like a tiny ear trumpet..I think phone designers have a very strange sense of humour!!

I am ashamed to admit that I gave up on my x3 after only 24hrs and today returned it to 02 before it drove me totally insane, I just could not get on with the 'itap' text and alot of the more useful features found on other phones were just not to be found on the x3. I now have a samsung d500 quietly charging beside me, last 1 in the shop, apparently they're as rare as hens eggs at the mo. So I wish you luck with your x3's and apologise for being a wimp...better start looking for a d5oo forum now I s'pose!

Well I said goodbye to my o2 x3 today. In the end I decided that the things wrong with it were hampering my enjoyment of the phone. It had smal cracks in the antenna, a weird smudge and green on the pictures (in certain light) and the java seemed unstable. Its a shame because I really loved the phone. Part of the reason people like Nick and my self stick up for it is because we love it so much despite its problems. But I decided I wanted a smartphone. The seimans sx-1 music ed. looked good but low an behold its been removed from the o2 site because of....BUGS!!! They all have em don't they.

sid, the upgrade is software only, no X3i or anything here. The o2 representitive, said to me that most bugs were ironed out and the phone was a lot more stable. The X3's software is constantly being updated, and so new versions are released all the time. Many phone companies do not release their software so that the service centre can do it themselves to prevent mishaps, thus caring for the customers. The SonyEricsson P8/9's software gets released, but that is because SE are very lazy and never like to update software. Nokia software you find on the internet is illegal, so that doesn't count. So for all the people saying that o2 dont care about their customers, read this and actually pay attention when o2 staff are talking to you and actually explaining what goes on at the service centres.

AFAIK there are no new "X" series phones coming out. o2 have sucessfully completed the XRange.

And for the people saying on the x3 photo competition that the photos were crap, the competition was finished BEFORE THE X3 WAS RELEASED! The file names are Picture(01) which mostly come with siemens and sony ericsson phones!

INFA-RED is a pure source of light, its used widely for many reasons. One of which is for data communication, such as sending signals from one device to another like a TV remote control. INFA-RED is also available for mobile phones, so u can send and revice data, this could be images or ringtones or what ever the phone supprots. Think of it as a mdeium of transfering data. Hope that helps

Is it just me? I noticed that when i take pictures with the x3 at wallpaper mode, the picture comes out green. I have experience the l lines on the the external displays only once
also when i flip the phone open it takes at least 2 seconds for the phoe to show the display
i mean before the two seconds, the display is completely black
it doesn't do it all the time. Nik as for this software upgrade , did they say they have fixed all the bugs? did they say anything about an X3i like nokai upgrade some of their phones with added features? or does any one know of any x's comming out?
