Anonymous, 18 Oct 2013If it's the best you had then you are missing outWith the greatest of respect, the only Android phones I've ever known to do significantly better than this have been the Note 2 (see my below objections) and the Moto Razr Max - and don't get me started on Moto!

It may not be mind-blowing but 1.5 days with medium-heavy use on a flagship 1080p phone with an S800 processor is not "poor". It just ain't.

So since we're talking about phablets, might as well include the new HTC and also the Z Ultra.

Oh please, if you're going to bring the Note3 into this, then include the Z Ultra as well.

Personal experience. If you expect more with a modern smartphone then you're always destined for dissapointment. That said, it's the best battery life I've had on a phone for years.

Note 3 rules, but in my opinion 4K video recording is not very useful because 4K videos take lots of storage.

I've personally gone for an Xperia Z1, and here's why:

I tried the G2 in the shop but couldn't get over the feel of the device in my hand. It felt like I was going to break the darned thing and the hyperglaze plastic felt,.... wrong. Oh, and the buttons on the back really felt off, not to mention the ease at which fingerprint smudges would collect on the camera lens, beneath.

Beyond that, I had few complaints beyond the childish look of the UI. Oh, and the fact that LG haven't released the 32GB version in the UK, leaving us with next-to useless 16GB of storage (seriously?!)

I simply can't deal with Touchwiz on a Samsung. Bloated, kiddy-fied, gimmick-ridden and ugly. Again, beyond that, it's a fine phone but I'd never really use the stylus.

As a keen photographer, however, the Sony ticked the most important box for me; camera. There's no two ways about it - the Z1 has the best camera on a non-Nokia branded phone.

Sure, the other two are fine for postings to facebook etc but that's all they are; fine. I simply can't understate the level of detail and the dynamic range that the Z1 delivers. And, despite the review above, it's far ahead in low-light, too; just turn off Superior Auto because it throws the ISO too high. At ISO 50-400 (usually selected automatically in Manual mode), the camera picks up superb detail with little noise.

Add in superb build quality, great audio and waterproofing, it's the right phone for me.

If screen is most important to you and bezels bug you (Bezels? Really? That bugs you enough to disregard a phone?!) then get either of the others. But if you want a smooth, stutter-free, grown up UI, great gaming performance, a brilliant, brilliant camera and a build that makes you smile whenever you pick it up, then I couldn't recommend the Z1 highly enough.

[deleted post]Planning to buy an LG G2 for my daughter still, its good enough, just not great. The problem is to find 32GB model, always like this, only the smallest storage option available, that goes for all brands here except Apple.

                        Best Phablet is Galaxy Note3
                        Best Smartphone is LG G2.

[deleted post]That's what Xperia Z owners kept telling everyone.
"The screen is brilliant!" Colors shifting and they're washed out.
"Other people will not be able to see from other angles what's my screen for privacy." The thing is, they still can, even with the shifting colors.

Yes, keep letting yourself believe you're getting your money's worth. I don't think Sony designers had intended those screen glitches or else they'd be advertising them as features.

                                      Quell surprise, the Note won!

The Note 3 is a great device but it's a PHABLET. Of course it beats the LG and Sony smartphones.

They've only done this comparison because the G2 beat their precious S4. It's another Samsung love in, for obvious reasons.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that the Note I superior, just like the Galaxy Tab is better than the Note.
