Xiaomi Mi 4c review: MiForce

21 October, 2015
Xiaomi Mi 4, one of the hottest Chinese-bred flagships of 2014, got two modifications over the course of its lifecycle - that's an achievement right there. The Mi 4i was more of an attractive mid-ranger rather than a Mi 4 spiritual successor, but the Mi 4c is what we call a flagship in disguise and a true successor of the Mi 4.

Well, I must be a very lucky person... Since the first day I received it... I just loved the way it looks, the way it feels, the way it works... The price i've payed (lool)... Never had overheating problems, it does become hot but with this chip show me one that doesnt... Its quick as gelo (one of the quickest you can get right now), the battery lasts 2/3 data and charges really fast... I could keep going and say much more... But besides being the best phone I've had and I wouldnt swap it by any much more expensive option... The point is, think about what you get in a

I bought this after seeing your test on the camera and I am really disappointed. I have not at all the same quality as in the test. It is worse than my old OnePlus One and LG G2, autofocus is pretty bad and often blurry photos.
Do you have a Sony or Samsung sensor on your model? I have a SONY on mine for information.
Also, the volume power of the back speaker is strong, always compared to my old OnePlus and the jack output isn't comparable to my old LG G2 :/

Genius, 24 Oct 2015Utter rubbish. Displays fused with the glass is the more mo... moreSorry but you really don't know what you are talking about.

You can have a display fused to glass, but the digitizer can still be a separate entity from the glass.

Xiaomi uses a glass/digitizer combo which is extremely fragile. It is cheaper than a having the digitizer on the display and separate glass.

Displays fused with the glass is the more modern technology compared to the traditional approach of having both separate. Almost every company which makes high end phones use this kind of displays. Few years back, it was limited to only high end models, but now its being used in most smartphones. This technology is used not because its cheap, but because it reduces the thickness of the display stack and helps make the phone slimmer. It also makes the depth of the glass in-perceivable and makes you feel as if the content on screen is on top of the glass rather than underneath it.

Yes, if the glass is broken in this type of display, you will need to replace the whole screen. But that is the price you have to pay for having slimmer phones.

Well done Xiaomi, very well done. Especially with that length and width. Indeed a very fine piece of gadget.

Yes, I fixed it. Thanks to everyone, who pointed this mistake.

AnonD-294887, 22 Oct 2015Funny how comments blamed bad battery life of Redmi Note 2 ... moreThe battery life isn't bad, just look at video playback and browsing.

The issue is standby drain, which if you charge every night will barely affect battery life. But my standby drain my Xiaomi phones running miui 7 is perfectly fine so I don't understand the results from gsmarena. How do we know they closed all apps before doing standby test. We don't know how they test standby. Maybe just 2 hours and then calculate the rest from how much it drains in 2 hours? It could be caused by their mobile network. Many variables at play here.

Funny how comments blamed bad battery life of Redmi Note 2 on Mediatek, but no one is saying anything about Qualcomm here.

I'm thinking it might be either MIUI itself (a bad build of it), or some crapware sideloaded by retailers.

In any case, the phone itself seems nice enough, but no SD card is a no-go for me.

In China, many consumers are aware of this and it is a big complaint with Xiaomi phones. There is no benefit to this technology. You can still have a display which appears on the surface with other technology as Samsung, Apple, Huawei and all other phones prove. There is ZERO benefit to the consumer from using 'glass with integrated touch screen' to the consumer.

If glass breaks, your phone is useless. 100% guaranteed. Now crack the glass on phone that uses the better screen tech, it will still work perfectly 99% of the time as the front glass is only glass, and it protects the digitizer.

Once you crack a Xiaomi mi3, mi4, mi4i or mi4c , touch will never work because of this type of touch screen. Just look for yourself. Now,

Xiaomi is not the first to use it. Sony have used it since Xperia Z. Other phones have also used this technology in the PAST. Some Nexus phones, LG and Oneplus one spring to mind. But they have all moved onto the more durable technology of digiziter on display and separate glass.

Yes it is cheaper because there is less materials. The glass is also the digitizer.

It's stop working when it cracked? Xiaomi the one left use this bad tech? Cheaper?

Damnnnn, i want so bad to mock you but i'm affraid my comment blocked

                                        Here is the fact:
-Xiaomi one of the first manufacture use this technology
-it's laminated glass make glass one part to display it cost more expensive than gorilla glass
-it has the same thoughness as gorilla glass (company claim, i consider this as fact)

I want an evidence, when its cracked u can't not use the touch screen again. I want to compare to gorilla glass cracked

FYI,there's other company produce scratc-resist like this even same company produce different product like gorilla, willow and concore

Not like the old days nowadays scratch resistance is smartphone standart they try to innovate to put scratch resistance built in to display. Gorilla glass only marketing term maybe the first company that put branding to their scratch resistance, even before gorilla era there is many company produce scratch-resist.
