HTC One A9 review: Rejuvenation

28 October, 2015
HTC One A9 is not just a phone, it's a corporate rejuvenation. A9 is the boost HTC needs to swim out of the murky waters and claim its piece on the market. HTC may have outed a few very capable phones this year, but it needs a game changer, a statement that the king is still alive and kicking...

In 2012 The HTC One S was the fastest mobile around. quality tip to toe. Back then battery endurance was at 35hrs. Total pleasure and 3 years later with S4 chip, it still sings along. GSM remarked at the time " As far as raw CPU performance goes, Snapdragon S4 is the king right now - don't fall for the "bigger is always better" trap and think four cores always beat two"
Well as for the A9, i get 11 hrs more. Hell, while I think of it, quite a few colleagues complain about their iphone batteries falling far short so why all the fuss. just enjoy what you want and be happy. If the quality of my One S has been anything to go by, then the A9 will be a total and absolute pleasure to use. Yup sure, bigger batteries are good, so are many things in all facets of life but doesn't mean to say the lesser ones are not any more attractive and wonderful to use. At the end of the day, for me this is thee perfect upgrade.
Cant wait for the sexy Cast Iron version. I don't understand the economics of holding that beast back.

Kiss my ass HTC. 400 bucks in the US and 600 euro in Europe. I hope you guys go under with your overpriced underperforming iPhone copy.

They ruined everything with snapdragon 617. They should have gone with the more powerful helio x10 and reduce the cost.

Just checked the battery ratings and... No need to analyze A9 further more. I don't need a phone with 1/2 day battery life. Failure as galaxy Alpha was.

                      Great review.
                      However the A9 is doomed.

Last year HtC One m9 scored 50k Antutu points.
This year new A9 scores 40K Antutu points and battery is shockingly bad at 2150maH.

Now maybe I have been in time warp but this is not evolution of smartphone. Its going backwards in the sake of cloning and competing against competitor with fruit shape.

Goodbye HtC. You were great in the beginning with HD2 but now absolutely woeful.

And honestly A9 is one of the worst devices HTC ever made.

AMOLED displays is not battery friendly as many would think (or as it is advertised) . I had many devices with SuperAmoled screens, but non of them was a good battery companion. In fact IPS screen from Sony are much more battery friendly. And I don' really know why HTC decided to put these displays instead of excellent IPS ones used for M8 and M9.

Why they have to copy iPhone battery life?

AnonD-137201, 28 Oct 2015I think HTC is using the GS4 panel there... to lower costs.... moreThey probably are, that's why they think it's a hero device - it saves their costs! And I recon if want an AMOLED screen, get a Samsung because they'll only sell their inefficient screens to everyone else!

Premium display ? At what sense ? max brightness 340...... 1080p
A normal display would be a better word .

Middle range phone with near higher spec price. See how many units HTC can sell.

The A9 is not 1mm thicker than the M9, it is in fact, I believe, 2.2mm thinner
