1nterceptor, 29 Apr 2016A fine review, as ussual... I want to know if you guys test... morecareful man once u go Samsung there is no turning back, been using samsung handsets since wave 3 and trust me all this others seem like a waist of time after u get ur first galaxy flagship, from the S4(exynos) i went note 4(snapdragon) now im on s7 edge(exynos) and the experience is somewhat an edition to the s4 experience in how they respond and solid in performance and ti thise who think snapdragon is better guess again it tends to throttle alot quicker and spoils the fun when gaiming and exynos just remains butter smooth. chears

Simply put, LG really messed up the G5. It doesn't even compare to the S7 in anything but ergonomy.
Camera-wise, GSM Arena is entitled to their opinion but just look at the pictures and all other reviews...there is no contest in any situation, S7 easily wins. G5 actually has a last-year camera.
Where LG really still wins is ergonomy. Double-tap to wake, always-on fingerprint sensor (albeit stupidly rear-placed), double-tap to sleep, really useful always-on display (displays all notifications, unlike s7 which only displays missed calls and SMS messages).
I hope LG comes out with a G5 Pro soon, otherwise their sales this year will be abysmally low.

A fine review, as ussual... I want to know if you guys tested the S7 with the new update (which among the other things improves the camera) or not?
I believe each of the phones have its strenghts and weaknesses, bit it's up to the buyer to decide which ones are more or less important to him/her... Last year i owned a G4 because in my mind it was a better phone than the rest of competition, esspecially in the camera department. I was not disapointed, well i can't say i was satisfied by the battery life (especially after updating to MM), but other than than, i was satisfied. Thos year i went for the S7 (exynos) and i can tell you guys, after 2 months of using the phone in all kinds of conditions - this is undoubtly the best phone i ever owned (and i had quite a lot of them). It is, i believe, by far the best rounded phone up to date. The screen, build quality, camera, performance, battery life, you name it... Bottom line is - there are a lot of top notch things included in the S7... Ofcourse, there are a few which are not so "top notch", like the slippery glass on the back panel - i wish they put some kind of frosted or matte glass instead of this shiny one. Another thing, the IR blaster - a feature not used by many people, but i can surely say i miss it. I had it on my G2 and G4 and now it's gone :/. Anyway, when i take all things into consideration, i know i gained a lot more than i lost with the S7 and i can't be more satisfied. Only my 2 cents...

AnonD-500788, 29 Apr 2016Gaming performance is better in adreno with sd820 than the ... moreAdreno isn't better. It overheats easily as its more power hungry. GPU benchmarks drop below exynos within a few minutes (but the gpu benchmarks are more strenuous than normal games, so in real life usage it'd be more than a few minutes).

AnonD-259899, 29 Apr 2016Where is that data? I am asking for lab data or measurement... moreHey, you're the one with the totally baseless opinion that its due to software. I blamed the thing that actually changed, which can be observed by looking at the drop in battery from the g2 to the g3, as opposed to the slight drop that Samsung experienced when they increased the resolution.
Why do you discredit the only thing that changed, and instead blame it on pointless speculation of software optimisation?

AnonD-385367, 29 Apr 2016What a hard fought fight. Gotta give it to Sammy for the di... moreNo other way to put it - Everyone has their preferences.
The comments on this are already saying everything really. First, it's the wrong phone, it should be the S7 Edge vs G5. Secondly, this is always going to stoke the fan boys/girls into 'everything is rubbish except for my phone' mode. Strangely the Samsung ones are the loudest of all.
There are so many pros and cons to these phones that means it is a long way from easy to choose. GSMArena have done a well balanced review without being biased but I'm sorry, the removable battery for the LG adds a lot of points.
Samsung S7;
Pros;
Good (some say great) all rounder.
The better looking of the 2.
Better chipset.
Bigger - although non removable - battery.
Better sound output.
Waterproof. Although I don't personally care for leaving my phone in a deep puddle on purpose just to brag about it. Splash proofing, yes, full waterproof, no.
Cons;
Expensive. I'd prefer to have a SD820 and save a few £/$. Especially since day to day performance differences are negligible.
Compared to the S7 Edge constantly. IMO doesn't look or feel as good.
Fan boys/girls are aplenty.
Non removable battery.
LG G5;
Pros;
Currently unique modular design. Fairphone is not modular, just easy to take apart and ARA and Puzzlephone are nowhere to be seen yet.
Removable battery. Like most I'd prefer to carry an extra battery and have 5600mah.
Still top spec hardware.
Better overall camera package.
More affordable than the S7 - neither are exactly cheap.
Cons;
Not a looker. The G3 had a similar design and pulled it off a lot better.
No rear mounted keys.
No water proofing, or even official splash proofing.
Expensive 'Friends'. The 360 camera is a good touch but they're all too expensive and currently lacking in choice.
Cons - both;
Both have larger-than-trending bezels. I am a fan of the bezel less look.
Both designs are kind of 'meh'.
Both loaded with unwanted bloatware.
Pros - both;
Both are brilliant phones.
Both have taken very different approaches to their new flagships.
Just for everyone who's going to comment saying 'how is that right?' or 'that's wrong' etc, this is my opinion, I am entitled to it as is everyone.

Anonymous, 29 Apr 2016So you buy a phone and carry a spear battery with you? Wher... moreI have a mate7 and when I first got it, it had about 10 hoirs of screen on time... 4100mah...
Still, even with that, sometimes I stay on youtube with 4g, wifi open, some other apps and it can drain on 6-7hours... What would happen to s7 or g5 with such use?
Spmetimes there is no way to charge... So the guy is right. Although few people would carry 2 batteries, it is better if its removable...
It shouldnt be just big... It should be both!

Low light??? really?
If I go search for the S7 on the gsmarena website, then check camera quality -> use the Photo Compare Tool to select a comparison between the S7 and the G5 -> Low Light tests -> the S7 wins by a huge margin...
