I really can't believe in the review that you find the position of the fingerprint sensor "convenient"??? It is so bad, way worst than on the S8 (anyway, both are poorly placed)
What a joke...

The only reason to get this phone over the 5T is because Samsung is more 'mainstream.' I don't deny this isn't important (ecosystem, reliability, availability, etc), but seriously! The 5T is 90% (or more, if you ask me) of the iPhone X and Google and Samsung's own flagships, keeping up with them in many important area. It has a screen that matches (in all aspects but resolution, but honestly, I have had 1440 and 1080 and unless you are doing VR, no difference whatsoever) all of the abovementioned top flagships. It has a modern design (and metal back, which is honestly preferable as long as wireless charging isn't a dealbreaker), dual cameras (not a pixel, but still very good), face unlock faster than Samsung's offering, an Oreo update, the fastest charging in the industry and well, you get the idea. It is much easier to list what it lacks (1440p, official water resistance, OIS, stereo speakers, card slot, Verizon and other US CDMA carriers, great cameras) than what it doesn't, and when compared to phones at its $500 price range, a lot of these 'problems' are acceptible or even great (cameras, resolution).
I know this review is of the A8, but Samsung, like other major companies, is forced to sabotage this and its other upper midrange phones as to stop them from competing with their flagship. OnePlus 5T reviews always hold it up to flagship guidelines, As I see it, either get the 5T or the S8. Hell, you can find the S8 for $500 or less in new condition if you know where to look. I have a Oneplus 5 and have tried out the S8, and I have all of the features I listed the 5T having except for the design, screen, and a slightly different camera configuration (I get telephoto). I have dealt with Oneplus support, and it has always been fast and helpful. I may be biased, but I am not trying to advertise for OnePlus or anyone else; I am simply sharing my experience. I have nothing against Samsung as a whole (I am writing this on my Samsung Chromebook Plus). I hope you all find the best devices to suit your needs.

I am currently using this phone. It's got a great design, best display for midrange phone. Loving this feature is a great and fast fingerprint reader. The feal in hands is premium and the battery is also great (for me 24h +, using phone for buisness, email, web, shutting photos, txt messaging). One bad thing is, when you scroll on the menu, opening new window or application (on every application). It's not dramatic, some can live with this but for 500 € Sorry this must be more fluent experience. The nokia 6 2017 or 2018 has almost no lag and costs half the price. The almost all lag on A8 disapir if you disable window animations in the devloper menu. Some little lag shows sometimes.

MIlan, 13 Jan 2018I am very excited about this phone but i don't wont to spen... moreGood choice, I plan on doing the same but for A8+. The processor benchmarks just a tad below the s6 so should perform well but then begs the question, looking for a new s6 might be better off (if it's true that the s6 series will get Oreo) if you don't want infinity display, Ip68 and possible better software optimization (oreo should makes things been more stable).

JohnIsraelCooper, 15 Jan 2018A single core Mali GPU from last year ?! Are you kidding me... moreGpu on A series is a godanm joke... no wonder why 4k recording, 1080p60fps or even 720p 60fps recording is disabled. Samsung has disabled 1080 60fps youtube playback on A series 2016 because gpu is a trash for the price I paid for... hell even galaxy s5 had 4k recording! I miss my galaxy alpha every single day!!!

A single core Mali GPU from last year ?! Are you kidding me Samsung ?! This is a low end phone at best stop calling it mid-range, mid-range has Snapdragon 600 series or Helio X30 at least this is low end at a flag ship price and no it doesn't even come close to the S series which has better camera and better everything else along with more sensors. Don't kid yourselves fan boys.

The issue I have with this A8 phone is that is retail price is now the same last years S8 on ebay so might as well buy a last years S8 instead.

They did put there 64 GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, notification LED... screen is OK too. But where this phone exceeds expectations is selfie camera.
Performance-wise the S8 owns it.
And just around 80 Euro difference in price is just crazy.
Maybe, since phone is heawier and designed differently - it's more durable?
I believe there is a catch, otherwise it's just overpriced selfie machine.
But S8 also had much higher price when it came out than what it had now, so I expect the price to go down within first few months, and A5 2017 wasn't cheap either.
