Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 review

01 February 2019
Redmi Note 7 lineup is the first one branded only as “Redmi” and the sub-brand company wants to come in strong. It advertises flagship-worthy build quality, great 48MP main camera on the back and powerful enough SoC no matter which Redmi 7 device you choose - the vanilla Redmi 7, the bigger Note 7 or the Pro. The one we have with us is the Redmi Note 7 - perhaps the most sought after model due to its low price and big screen.

Anonymous, 06 Feb 2019I don't think so redmi note 7's price would be 3000 just li... moreThe expected price of the note 7 ( if it would be available in EG ) is from 3777 to 4299 EGP while the pro version is expected to be from 4666 and above.
It's very hard to get a 48MP camera , SD660 , glass back for under 3500 , even the realme 2 pro that only has SD660 and can't compete with the note 7 is priced at 3790 to 4990.
But all these prices are still not confirmed and phone reviewers don't know about the phone pricing and these leaks can be false or true.

no, 04 Feb 2019You're right . We don't care about NFC in Egypt but people ... moreThe problem is, Xiaomi is likely making just a few dollars of profit on a low-end phone like Redmi Note 7, therefore increasing the cost by $2 might cut their profit in half.

They should do what Huawei did, and add NFC to European version, since European versions are higher prices anyway.

Sounds like they need to up their lighting budget.

bakasta, 06 Feb 2019samsung J5 pro, J7 pro, Nokia 5 have NFCIf the cost of NFC is SD430 or mediatek (Nokia 5.1), then I'd happily skip. If you look at the rest, crappy screen (tiny and 720p for the Nokia 5) and weak camera and battery then it makes it even easier.

(I added the 6.1 instead of 5.1 as it's not available.)

J5 has the same stuff, small screen, low resolution, pityful camera and significantly weaker chipset etc. Choosing a significantly worse phone in every aspect because of NFC has to be worthy of a T-shirt informing everyone how empty ones head is.

J7 (2018) still has a small screen, huge bezels, is pricier than the 4GB version of Redmi Note 7, running android 8 still? Only HD screen... Since J7 is not available I upgraded the comparison to A7, and heck, even S9+

            Let's have a look: https://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=5&idPhone1=9340&idPhone2=9513&idPhone3=8967

NFC payments does not require a cellphone with NFC. NFC enabled cards does the same thing without fumbling about with your phone. NFC phone payments are so wildly overrated. Are people that desperate to flaunt their phone?

LOOK! My phone can do excactly the same as a plastic card. How awesome am I, huh!?

Ron7x, 03 Feb 2019Honor 8x.Honor 8X starts at around $210, and only certain versions have NFC (Chinese and Indian versions don't).

Certainly a better looking phone than the RN7 in the front though.

NFC may not be used everyday but it is nice to have one just in case you need it suddenly no matter where you live in.
NFC does not require the good light condition or good camera, not like QR scanner.

Anonymous, 02 Feb 2019You can turn off most of their ads in 5 minutes. But I ... moreFrom what I have read on XDA forum turning ads is not so simple if you have the Indian version.

I'm not saying it can't be done in short time but why include it in the first place. Also, launching the ad-less version of same mobile with a slight premium will leave the choice with consumer.

Those who believe inbuilt ads are not a nuisance have a completely wrong perspective. I repeat that this shouldn't become the norm within smartphone industry. If a manufacturer is providing heavily subsidised mobiles for next to nothing to underprivileged section then it's a different matter.

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2019Huawei P30 pro will come with the new Sony IMX607 sensor.I noticed, and while techincally a bit smaller than last years 1/1.7" IMX600, as well as not being quad bayer, it will be interresting to see what it can produce.

Same goes for Huawei's processing, which was way too agressive on the P20 pro and too soft on the Mate 20 pro. Hopefully with the P30 pro they get it more spot on.

We don't care about NFC in Egypt but people in Europe or US need it so, it's quite important and adding NFC can cost about 1-2$ . it's very cheap so, why doesn't Xiaomi add it to to its phones ? it may be a dealbreaker for many.
