S9, 17 Feb 2019I have one with good Samsung Super Amoled screen, thank you... moreGood points on the Mi 8 SE. I agree it's an ugly phone with the ginormous notch and the squared corners. However, look is subjective so I listed it.
If you like smaller phones, Meizu 15 is worth a look. It's even smaller and lighter than Mi 8 SE, has a Samsing sAMOLED with 16:9 ratio, and OIS on main camera.

About Mi8SE, that phone does not exist in Global version at all, does not have band 20 (because, no gkobal ver), and have hugee notch. Then again, there is a good processor (better than 660), Amoled screen, and phone (for today standards) is compact, but like i said it's for Chinese market only, since half last year. There is no, even global rom for that phone (if you dont count xiaomi.eu ROM)..
Maybe SE2 will be global

I must be honest, the 48MP samples from this phone isn't as good as Honor View 20. The latter performs much better at that resolution.
But then, the Redmi Note 7 Pro would use the same Sony camera as the one in the Honor View 20, so that might make a difference.

Redmi note 6 pro has support for lte band 28 (700mhz) wonder why note 7 with higher SD660 does not support it?

If you want a phone with a good Samsung super AMOLED screen under $300, get a Xiaomi (Mi 8 SE), Meizu (15, 16X) or ZTE (Axon 7s with 1440p AMOLED).

1 - How bad is the screen bleed... more1 - I cannot find bleeding issue on the screen. Maybe some people have defected phones.
2 - Comparing to previous ones, it was way better. If you wanted to get ad-free ones, maybe you can wait for international version. Chinese versions usually have more ads.
3 - The phone warmed up in the middle of playing PubG, but the temperature is acceptable to me. I also had the phone with TPU case on, so it should be cooler with no case.
4 - Music quality is meh but average at this price point IMO.
PS The camera potential is very good IMO, it is able to install Google camera directly, without any rooting. I used Google camera for shots and Stock camera for Video. The only things missing may be 960fps slow motion and 4K.

I have just got a Redmi Note 7, the stock camera is great but not good enough to me. So I used Google camera apk and the result was even better. I will not say it can beat flagship camera, but the shots (no matter in day, night or extremely low light) are very pleasing. Yet the ones from Stock camera are already very good. Pixel-binning seems to be an important technological innovation for phone cameras.

I think for this price, camera is usable, even with Note 7, does not matter 12 or 48mp.
But audio quality from camera seems worske than for example from Note 5 AI.. also autofocus seems slower. At least we know, where is made compromise, to get this (low) price.

my asus zenfone 5 lite (Q) can took 49mp photo too, using super resolution mode on camera setting, though still run nougat

the same reason review finds 48m not preferable and even recommends sticking to 12mp

If you think for J4 Plus or somerhing like that, with SD425 inside.. not worth it the price, even for such a cheap device. Sorry.
