Please add criteria for "Screen Aspect Ratio" to your feature: "Phone Finder" so you can discard all these absurdly useless elongated screens

XZP LUL, 19 Sep 2019even it runs in 1080p, the pixels that are not used and sho... moreWhen a 4k screen display 1080p, there is no black pixel or you would have 3/4 of the screen black. The content is RENDERED in 1080, then UPSCALLED to match the screen definition.

Plus, what you set is the total light emitted and not the raw power by pixel. It needs only 5Watts per spot on a 20 light spot system to produce the same light emission than 10x 10Watts spots.

The difference in power drain between a 4k and a FHD screen, at the same brightness, is only the upscale computing and probably some loss in energy due to the fact you have more system to power, but that's just heat loss due to resistance like in any system.

Tbh, the battery life of the Xperia 1 is not that much lower than my previous mate 10 pro (like 22h combined usage vs 28h), despite the battery being 3200mAh vs 4000 and the screen being 4k vs FHD. That are just my observations though.

Why not just do portrait with the x2 lens without the fake bokeh mode? Thanks to the short aperture the depth of field is blurred optically and the result is perfect, rather than those really weird digital not-gradual with a lot of artifacts portrait mode you find on every phone now.
plus using the x2 lens remove the deformation you get with a wide lens like the main camera, no big nose.
And thanks to the Eye autofocus and the smile detecting, autoportrait are really easy to do too.
Sometime, people should just goes back to some basic photography skills, it's really simple in this case and the results is really different.

yuka, 19 Sep 2019And suddenly your hands and pockets have grown by such a wi... moreWe all know a small phone will have tiny contents tiny word everything shrink into tiny, today is 2019 most web pages are better show on a bigger screen, so the Xperia 5 isn't very tiny like the old days but it is still compact than those giant because of the narrow width of the phone much great for one hand operate, the weight and thickness wise! It's the ideal weight and thickness and doesn't feel chunky/bulky in your hand if you compare to those Pro/Max/Plus.

Anonymous, 19 Sep 2019Dude you have your phone for two years and you do not know ... moreeven it runs in 1080p, the pixels that are not used and showing black color is still consuming power whether u like it or not because it is not a led display. hope u know the differences

very poor camera and image quality, only telephoto images are good

Anonymous, 19 Sep 2019You don't make any sense. A phone with the same screen size... moreYeah, nah.

The lattice of the LCD is 4 times as dense, the screen still needs to control each individual pixel despite it being already rendered in 1080p by the CPU.
I.e. The screen needs to decided to turn which pixels on or off independent of the resolution.

But if you gave a 3500mAh battery and a price of around 600USD, you would be a clear winner.

As I know in the first place, Xperia 5 has the same XZ1-level miracle of ER surprise, now producing 96h ER from the 3140 mAh, proving Sony's long-standing optimized battery life and battery management itself for years. I mean, people should have known this since quite a while, at least from XZ1 with its 82hr ER from 2700 mAh battery. Sure, I would recommend Sony to put more mAh, but at least Sony has proved themselves.
