The review states: "The new Kirin 990 5G is one of the best on the market, with solid thermal properties."
I think its too far behind SD 865 and Apple's latest to be a fair statement. Especially considering the asking price at launch. Last year Huawei falsely claimed (and a log of reviewers followed) that Kirin was finally catching up in performance. Its pretty obvious now, that Kirin is exactly as far behind as the last few years.
Other than the good low light camera here, the disadvantages of no Google and subpar performance (for a flagship) are too big.
The big question is what will Huawei do, now then they no longer have acces to the latest cpu cores ?

Anonymous, 28 Mar 2020a very wrong time to launch amid Coronavirus pandemic... Not, this phone is sars-cov-2 free. Whats more worrying is they use just part of sensor in auto mode of normal fov, so details are about the same as p30pro which is also with apps.

It is affecting all businesses including Dxomark (whose office is located in France, which is currently under lockdown), so all their reviews will be delayed.

It would be interesting how the P40 Pro performs at 23mm (not 27mm) in pixel binning mode. Either it will crop the ultra wide angle camera or it will use the full field of view of the main camera.
I know that the P30 Pro cropped the main camera at 130mm (it switches to the periscope camera at 135mm) , although the periscope camera can shoot at 125mm in Pro mode with raw turned on.

i guess they always have to screw it up somehow.

Except for the lack of GMS, lesser display (90Hz 1200p), and speakers, this phone certainly beats the S20 Exynos series. SoC seems slower on paper but with faster system performance you won't need that extra juice. Camera performance is impressive, tested P30 and P30 Pro last year and was very satisfied. Huawei only needs to work its OS ecosystem fast.
