LG V60 ThinQ 5G review

19 April 2020
While we were all expecting a successor to the G8, LG instead announced a successor to the V50. The LG V60 ThinQ 5G is the latest fully featured flagship smartphone from Samsung’s Korean rival. LG doesn’t go quite as hard with the spec sheet as others like Samsung and Oppo, but it also doesn’t go as hard with the price point.

Got a TempoTec Sonata iDSD (ESS ES9028KM2 +sabre9601k) that has a battery & separate power line. Ended up buying additional USB C cable (Shanling L2) as default one is really bad and applying additional EMI shielding (2~3 mm of graphite) over ICs. Not really worth the fuss but now it's on the deacent desktop DAC's lv.
A tip; make sure when you order the Sonata HD Pro that it is one which comes with newer, much better USB cables. Now you actually can select it with only cable that you need (not all of them) & save couple more buck's.

    Best regards.

And Sammy must stay on top, get it? If tests would prove otherwise, change test parameters, test only wireless. No wired audio tests, everything is sammy "fair".

The Apple $9 USB dongle did better than that, problem is it doesn't last (2~3 months) and output power (mW) is somehow problematic on Android.

I swear if you didn't tell people no one would have any idea the screen had a Lowe refresh rate. I agree with the phone nerd comment. Just use it. It's a fantastic device even without the second screen.

Fearghast, 19 Apr 2020You are certainly right on the Cobalt is not really worth t... moreYou get it wrong. Get the TempoTec Sonata HD Pro instead of Hidizs S8, it's exactly the same thing for the half the price (S8 has a little fancier cover but it's a exactly the same bord with everything on it). The down side is that hardware volume steps are to big so you will have to use it with software one's & i still recommend phone/player with more volume steps.
Black has old uncompetitive DAC and Red is the bottom line of what is acceptable (ESS ES9028KM2 +Sabre9601k but very limited output). They both are worser than Cobalt which is bad one to start with. It's better for you to spent your money elsewhere. I don't know what you intend to pair it with but you can do much better for sure. In the end LG's ESS implementations turned out so good because EMI shielding & battery power those phones have.

Fearghast, 19 Apr 2020That's actualy a really good joke :DJoke is the fact many brands sell screen without pieces and people buy like the screen is 100% useful. Looks like pixels died there.

But my mind was with Black and Red one :)
Cobalt even has some built quality issues - but review I read still praised it, not as hard as Red or Black but anyways.
BTW THX for that HIDIZS, I have HIDIZS on my radar for a while. More reasons to try them sooner than later. On the same to-do list are HifimeDYI.
                      Thanks, seriously.

Regarding the photo sample comparison with the OnePlus 8 Pro, I'm kind of torn between the two. While I do prefer LG's more vibrant colour, I do like OnePlus's sharper detail clarity. Tough pick between the two.
