The only 2020 flagship phone that performs just as bad as this phone in terms of auto max brightness is P40 Pro (which somehow even performs better than this phone in manual brightness) - and that one comes with lower quality BOE panel unlike Xperia 5 II which I believe uses LG's OLED display.

Its the best yet from Sony, no doubt about it.

Camera? Flagship grade, but i've seen better (image processing in daylight oversharpen, lowlight with ugly softness, and again, classic Sony...overblown highlights all over the place)

Display? Actually I'll take brighter screen than 120fps.

          Design? Perfect, spot on.

No wireless charging? That thing is so thin that I dont mind having even they have to trimmed down the battery to 3800mah.

But overall a good flagship compact smartphone, with a nice review, at least for average consumers. Really hope that u can do separate review about the Photo & Cinema Pro app.

Not to mention it seem you can like your own comments, whos idead was that? What were they thinking? :-D
Not that it matters is any way shape or form, discussion is infinitely more useful than +/- that boots one "ego".

Still waiting for a compact version of xperia phone.

If they stop using 21:9 format, going back to a more useful 16:9 display, a phone large 68mm like 5 II, with the same frame of 5 II, would be 124mm height (4,9" display).

Let's arrange a virtual theatre with popcorns & drinks to observe the 1K comments exponentially in just blink of an eye in Sony articles because Sony is living on Sony nay-sayers mind rent free for a decade :)

"selfie cam has no 4K recording" - who even needs that?

You would literally had to have Xperia 1 II and 5 II on the same firmware and than compare them, aka you can't use GSM compare tool.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra runs 120Hz mode perfectly fine at FHD+ resolution, and edges out Xperia in some other metrics (e.g. 2x max brightness, higher resolution in 60Hz mode).

Thanks for your review @ editorial staff.

Nice phone. Good job Sony. The only problem is it doesn't look modern with thick top and bottom bezels.

You definitely need a super sharp eye to notice the photo quality difference between the 5 ii and 1 ii. Maybe because of the 3D ToF sensor omission, the 5 ii looks a bit too soft compared to the 1 ii.

                                  Hey
You compared the battery care feature to the Asus one saying that the time in is only available on the Asus but it's actually also available on the Sony. When you put it in auto mode it'll automatically adapt and set an earlier time so that it's before the alarm.

Thanks for the quick review! I was waiting for a long time for the Xperia 5 II. I'm due to replace my S8 and wanted a compact flagship(narrower than 70mm), the only other option this year seems to be the S20. The Sony is almost the perfect phone for me...almost. Since I work outside I rely on a bright display, which sadly the Sony doesn't seem to have. I really hope(if at all possible) that Sony pushes an update to increase brightness, otherwise it seems I have to go with the S20.
