Anonymous, 03 Dec 2021No way would anybody use those rubbish phones in this day a... moreSlow? Sony phones are amongst the snappiest on the market owing to the same top end hardware of other manufacturers and one of the lightest OS skins on the market. You're free to dislike a phone or even a brand but atleast research what you're about to spout on an online forum lest you make a fool of yourself.

Tann Hauser, 03 Dec 2021Well, all with good eyesight can definitely see much better... morePhotos aren't the problem. They exchange blows with iphone 13 so that's fine. It's the video capture that's an absolute garbage at this price point (or "not up to scratch" as GSMarena said, but I think they are being too soft of Sony with that one)

Anonymous, 03 Dec 2021No way would anybody use those rubbish phones in this day a... moreLol please, I still do. Dead slow? Not really. Even my previous Android phone still lag despite having more RAM. Don't even make me mention the ability to natively turn off the app running in the background.

No matter, 03 Dec 2021Really? Or perhaps Sony is making more natural scene and Xi... moreThe natural shots with Sony ... I don't think so, because from my experience with the XZ2 I can say that Sony always had and still has, problems with excessively black shadows and problems with highlights. What's more, I'll add that even their professional Sony Alpha cameras tend to "clipping bright areas" too. So, I would not say that the blacker the night, the more natural it is, as well as the fact that if there is overexposure in bright areas, from light, then this is natural ..
Other cameras can make the shot both brighter and more natural, which you so fiercely advocate. For example, on my Pixel 4, in night mode, I can make a very bright night, and I can also make a very black night, and all this without tripods or long exposures..)

According to this review, the number of cons is too high for the phone to be worth 1800 euros.

                Overpriced !!

can gsmarena do a flashback camera review with the 950xl ?

Tann Hauser, 03 Dec 2021?!? See grass detail: https://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperi... moreBeautiful night shots from Pro-I!
                    Thanks for sharing.

However, I find this comparison between Pixel 6, Pro-I, and Mi 11 Ultra interesting.
Here are the low-light studio samples. Take a look at the center and navigate to the lower right corner with the metal fish:

                    https://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=5&idPhone1=11037&idPhone2=11174&idPhone3=10737

I think that Pixel 6 is somehow "stacking" multiple exposures to recover as much detail possible. What do you think?
Maybe Pro-I can take advantage of some AI's computation here.

rizki1, 03 Dec 2021$1000 buy a real camera, the rest $800 buy your phone a lot... moreI doubt they will be as good as this phone simply this phone has features some DSLR cameras don't have, anyway, you are contradicting yourself, you mentioned three parts to carry around with you which beats the purpose of this phone.

They can still modern smartphone cameras some serious fight despite their age. I myself still use my current daily-driving Lumia 950 for mobile photography and I am still impressed with its quality to this day, especially when using the ProShot app.

Notice that the sky is still growing blue on Mi 11 Ultra's shot, indicating that the entire scene was more evenly lit (hence has an "illuminated" look) compared to when the photo of the same scene was taken on Xperia.

Tann Hauser, 03 Dec 2021?!? See grass detail: https://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperi... moreOut of those 2 samples the Pro-I is the clear winner. The grass is not a highlighted jumbled mess. Everything seems to be more clear with the Sony.

The low light shots from the main camera are surprisingly decent - Although they are considerably noisy and shadows are too dark more often than not (and no, those photos edited by GSMArena look quite bad because of compression), highlights are maintained nicely in all but one scene, sharpening is adequate, there's a decent amount of details left in the image and colours are lively. Other cameras are not excellent but no camera is offensively bad (like on iPhone 13 series' UWA), and again, colours are nice from any of these modules. Overall I would put it above iPhone 13 Pro and slightly below Mi 11 Ultra, but in the end, a spot for X70 Pro+ as a king of the low-light smartphone cameras has been firmly secured for 2021.

During the day.. At F4.0 details look mushy, and exposure between different aperture settings seems oddly inconsistent on the balcony shot (I saw this on some samples from other websites as well, this is not meant to be happening because AE should be able to compensate for increase/loss in light intake automatically). With that said, samples do look a lot nicer than ones GSMArena previously posted in the hands-on, and there are a good amount of textures maintained at F2.0. Again, the other two cameras are adequate, but not so great for the asking price. While it certainly doesn't have a "big-sensor"-like extremely nuanced processing (like the one on P50 Pro or Mi 11 Ultra), apart from the quirks I mentioned above as well as high noise level, there's not much to complain about this camera.

Finally.. I can't even imagine how much nicer it would have been if the entire sensor area were used instead of the centre 60% of it. Such a missed opportunity, IMO.

What used to be standard before is not anymore and if you still want it, you get called enthusiast. People are comfortable with getting less and more and more brands are employing apple practices. People are using tribal mentality and want to justify their purchase so they will even defend the omition of features and call anything that has them old school.

The day Sony leaves the smartphone market, all smartphone makers, tech reviewers, consumers and fanboys are doomed for good!!!!

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2021What you on about, it's closest too stock Android. No... moreYes, I agree with you, it's like.no.other!
But being almost double in price like 5III that its module for now delivers the best camera shots and in these tests the pixel peeping it's almost the same, surely needs more true to life sharpness and night shot processing noise algorithms. It's about the camera excellence that still does not shine as it should (not telling the Crapsung or Icrap are better, not in a million years!) but for its hardware specs surely there is a lot of sweet juice untapped! And yes, sometimes the brightness it's quite low for people having eye issues! So until its screen and camera don't get perfect for a smart of its unique league, it remains a museum wish-for-device because of price!
A honest opinion from a die-hard-fan with tests over more than 25 Xperia devices!

Or perhaps Sony is making more natural scene and Xiaomi is overdoing it with HDR? A pictures from any Sony phone is better looking in my view than others. I can't stand pictures with excessive HDR and saturation. It makes flat image with no shadows and no highlights. It is unnatural as can be.
