TheTruthTeller, 14 May 2022No its not and its using old tech- side mounted fingerprint... moreSony's sidemounted fingerprint scanner is more reliable than many under display ones, the 12 MP camera is perfectly fine as all others use pixel binning anyways to end up with 12 MP photos and Sony's design needs no re-design as it's perfect already. No Notch, no big camera bump, 21:9 is nice when you browse the web a lot and for watching movies in the correct format. And it's more pleasant to hold with one hand than most other flagships nowadays, which you also can't use with one hand. Not only that, Sony offers a good one-handed more that makes this more practicable to use one handed anyways.. You complain about them using "old" tech but I don't think you have any idea on how this works. Apple uses old tech for their SE phones. Sony still develops new stuff, they just stay with older yet updated technologies since it fits best for them.

Tann Hauser, 14 May 2022Its not about brand bias, its about features I want. So... moreYou most certainly are all about brand-bias. Every message has that... Tone that clearly states it. You aren't able to say negative things about Sony, or has that changed now?

TheTruthTeller, 14 May 2022No its not and its using old tech- side mounted fingerprint... morePlease don't use the "Sony uses 12MP while others use 48MP", especially when they all end up throwing out 12MP images anyways.

Also side mounted fingerprint scanner is the best option and more reliable than under display

Anonymous, 14 May 2022Well, with your bias towards Sony bias, you'd buy one ... moreIts not about brand bias, its about features I want.

Sony is a sole mobile brand that delivers what I need coupled in one single device, and what other brands lack. So I have zero to none other brand options, sans a couple game centered phones, types of which I dont have any interest in.
And personaly, I couldnt go back to anything less than 21:9 screen design now. Its just so practical anything wider would be an annoying burden.

Tann Hauser, 14 May 2022Guess you found a bargain somewhere. They lowered the price... moreWell, with your bias towards Sony bias, you'd buy one of their devices blindly - no matter what. That's for sure. Would be better and wiser to keep an open eye and not to get stuck on a single brand. :)

Asvaberg, 13 May 2022In Norway it's now on pre-order (256Gb version) for ap... moreIts way more expensive that most Android flagships on the market(you can probably find an 13pro max cheaper nowadays),and Sony phones dont drop in price a lot/frequently and have horrible resale value and software support.

The Hardware is great like but in android you have many options and of course with way less money.

Notification led,no notch,3.5mm jack and the improved camera and microSd are all very nice to have but not pay a fortune for those alone.

Am I right in reading the specs here for this phone, that the USA version has a load more 5G bands, and includes mmwave, than the EU or Asia version? Can anyone confirm whether Sony has done this before with the mark 3s or 2s?

Anonymous, 13 May 2022Now I can buy an S22 Ultra 256 GB for about $1,100. The pri... moreGuess you found a bargain somewhere. They lowered the price of 22 Ultra at some places, cause it is literally the 21 Ultra S, and too expensive at 1400e, so very few were buying it.
On Amazon 256 gb one is still same price as Xperia 1 IV.
256gb 21 Ultra at 1100e sounds like a much better offer than any 22 Ultra, I guess to anyone.

I wouldnt cash that kind of money for any phone, but if I did, Id go for 1 IV, at least it has some actual innovations (as per 1 III), and is a better featured phone for my multimedia needs. It is also so much more ergonomicaly friendly for the hand, which is sth people dont often take into account when buying, but is important on the long run.

Anonymous, 13 May 2022Here comes along a phone with everything I want, and it cos... moreNo its not and its using old tech- side mounted fingerprint reader rather than under display fingerprint reader, old 12 mega pixel sensor when all android flagship phones have gone to 48mpxl this is how sony are now starting to make a bit of profit from their mobile division by using older tech when everyone else has moved on. The 16.9 ratio is too tall and awkward to use wirh one hand sony know this but they dont want to redesign a new phone beause it would cost their R&D dept too much money.

Did anyone check if it meets specs? Dual band GPS? Standalone 5G? VoLTE? VoNR? VoWiFi? The 1 Mark III is a mess of "not supported on your model" despite being advertised otherwise.

What's the point of having the best camera hardware, if the software from Apple and Samsung produce better photos and give you the ability to change the camera settings

Nah, not a significant upgrade over mk3, and the cameras are subpar compared to other flagships, such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei. However, I like SD slot and 3.5mm jack. S20 Ultra is still the king!
But maybe I'll mkIII after my S20 Ultra dies.
