I received my Xperia 1 IV on Wednesday and returned it Friday. The 85mm to 125mm telephoto photos are so soft it looks like the shot out of focus I shoot in manual mode I made sure my shutter speed was correct for that focal length but the images kept coming out sort and blurry.
I was shooting in RAW too, the DGN files were noisy even at ISO 200, being a alpha shooter I was so excited as I love my Sony Camera's. I have always used a iPhone but was so excited to the Xperia 1 IV but I was left disappointed.
I checked on reddit and a few people have said how soft the images are too.
Not sure if the latest update is out here in the UK to improve the telephoto but I ended up returning it.

So, just had a little research, this phone camera sensor uses the same camera used on 2019 device Huawei p30 pro, camera sensor would be IMX650 , one of the cameras uses even more outdated one IMX 5***. What Sony is doing is hard to understand and those reviews should mention sensor used

Things that put me off;
-side mounted fingerprint reader 😏
-30w slow charging 1:40H sh#t
-screen bezels with the front camera think bar 😟
-SD 8Gen 1 🔥 wish it was Dimensity 8100
-flat screen extremely not a fan. OEMs should be releasing two one flat one curved screen for the same model see which one will sell more 😀

The issue is them over charging more than Apple and Samsung, using inferior hardware compared to flagships of the last few years, and cutting corners across the board even in marketing or releasing.

Same ugly design like the past Sony Xperia devices, when are they even gonna come up with a new design? The front with that camera looks hideous just like every other Sony device.

Nun yo, 09 Jun 2022It's a top of the line phone. If you can't afford... more😂😂😂 good one. Oh cause it has 3.5mm or certain little completely inexpensive touches besides 4k its top of the line and its price is justified? Even thigh is behind in most things. Like matching the brightness of 7 year old flagships? And not being on par in speakers, battery, or camera either.
And they even flat out lied and said the brightness increased 50%.... but it only increased 30 nits. That's littrtally only like 5%.

This phone does so many things right, even ditching the idiotic corner cutouts that have become endemic, but it's too damn expensive. Take this phone, put in a Dimensity 9000, scale back the cameras, price it around $800, and it would take the market by storm.
Why on earth can't just one phone manufacturer realize that the combination of a strong processor, an sd slot, a headphone jack, and a somewhat reasonable price would sell let hot cakes. Yes, it's a niche, but it's a niche that's utterly unserved... and even for customers where these features aren't super important, they're still nice to have.

Here i am contemplating dropping $1500 on a phone, and yet there's a Galaxy S10 in my pocket that cost a third of the price 3 years ago, and there's literally nothing wrong with it.
WHY do I come to this site?

Anonymous, 30 May 2022You can't be serious about oversharpening on Xperia wh... more"Also there is nothing wrong with blown out highlights in the sky on a super bright noon, it's much more natural that way than Pixel trying to guess paint the blown out sky blue"
Pixel does a great job evening out harsh lights and maintains realistic exposure during the day, and blown-out highlights are literally nothing but "natural" LMFAO. If the camera sees blue in the sky then it must have some degree of blue colour in it, and in that case white sky would be a totally unrealistic rendition of the reality.
"and it's pretty super tacky if there are branches in the image which then suffer from ghosting"
Interesting, I'd love to see one instance where Pixel suffers from any ghosting.
"I always wondered where HDR people of today were back in 2003 when exposure stacking and HDR tone mapping was a thing and trending in photography"
Fun fact - Sony's dedicated cameras have had HDR JPEG shooting mode since a decade ago.
Another interesting fact - the Xperia camera app automatically activates HDR in auto mode whenever required, just like what happens on Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Samsung cameras.

The only unreal thing about the Night Mode is that the team at Sony are still unable to implement it. Night samples are really pretty useless, this is not how your eye would see the scenes, and it's as simple as that.

1400 euro for a phone without charger, of course everybody at least 1 charger at home but does it give companies right to remove charger.
But yeah, as long as people remain imbecile, they keep buying while saying thanks.
They must also remove phone from the box and say this
"You have already phone, sooo keep paying us you morons!"
I'm sure people will gladly pay and defend it at everywhere :D
