There is jo need more power for the new grill oven. It needed power efficiency 50% to any mobile get 10 hours sot not just puny 4 hours a day. I dont think it is the advancement to produce super powerful but extreme hot socs.

Maybe that's why Samsung ditched the Note series. They'd get criticized if they didn't pick the normal SD, and if they used the Plus, then they'd be criticized for why the Exynos is lagging behind.
All in all, it does seem like the battle has shifted now, and that it's all about power efficiency and temperatures. I like it, because the likes of modern Exynos and SD chips are simply generating too much heat.

Qualcomm managed to make this chip more performance efficient.
But still Total power draw of SD8G1+ is higher than SD8G1.
9.88W of SoC power draw is wayy too much for tiny smartphones to handle & ofcourse it'll throttle heavily just like older version.
Problem with 8g1 was its astonishingly high power draw that no phone could sustain such insane power levels,leading to agressive throttling & heating.
Qualcomm should decrease peak power draw & bring it towards 6-7 W max in future generations.
So efficieny should be main priority while designing smartphone chip or atleast give users options to decrease clockspeeds to extract more efficiency out of same SoC.

So it will be funny to see comments saying that Qualcomm have finally caught up, based on their use of ip and expertise gained through the acquisition of a company headed by Apple’s former lead chip designer. You know the same guy that oversaw all those terrible Apple A series chips that apparently couldn’t out perform a Snapdragon 400, let alone anything else.
So yeah I’m looking forward to all the mental gymnastics that take place on that day………

The perfomance in throttle seems appreciable, let's see others bench and also against Dimensity and real usage to see if everything is smooth as it should be :)
