Samsung S8500 Wave review: Hello, world!

01 June 2010
Smartphone for the masses or feature phone of the future? Samsung would gladly have it either way. The question rather is, will the Bada OS keep up the pace of its debut device. We’ve been following the new smart platform since its first. Update: Samsung Dive overview added...

Well, I am just saying what I know. I am not Einstein and I maybe wrong. I have told you what I know. You all are free to grab Samsung phones but I am not willing to. I have tolerated enough.

Please feel free to bang your head against this useless brick.

MI, 02 Jun 2010Super AMOLED is more of a marketing gimmick than something ... morer we supposed to believe that you are an Einstein of screen technology?? ? hell, i just didn't find ur name on Wikipedia. maybe u should try looking for a alternate profession - clearly u don't cut the deal here.

dofus.se, 01 Jun 2010I have been reading up on various phone reviews now a coupl... moretht's EXACTLY what i wanted to say for so long.apps?? r we all kids here? it's so lame when people start talking about apps before talking about a phone.i would like to know how many apps do people use everyday.personally, i could live without apps.it has to be a good phone first, then something else. a good alarm clock is much more important to me than a app store. a good camera is more important than a facebook app.not that i am against app, i am sure many people will find better uses of apps. i don't like the idea that it is given more importance than the phone itself.

I work in screen developments and I can assure it is just a marketing stuff just like MPs in camera (provided you are not interested in zooming the pics)....

KSR, 02 Jun 2010To all those guys who are commenting that Samsung is a copy... moreI am neither criticizing nor blaming but all I am saying is the exactly the same that you rephrased as "summing it up"..........its fine......but only thing is that I do not want to own something which cannot gain me respect......It is like clearing exams by copying the other guy's answers...though you clear the exam but you know you have copied and you are not that best..........that is how I feel.....nothing else.........those who like can continue to love samsung.....it is just the way I feel.....

I think lots of iSheeps and Nokians are extremely jealous here because they can't get SUPER AMOLED in their devices. Well, it's up to Sammy whether you guys are lucky enough to use it because Apple and Nokia can't produce anything like that. SUPERAMOLED..? It's simply gorgeous! Envy guys!

To all those guys who are commenting that Samsung is a copycat...

First of all get ur facts right.. Samsung has pioneered in the development of several new techs. for high-end mobile.. just as Nokia, Apple etc did. I need to assert them again as most of us already knew.

Just forget that; even if some company.. let us say Samsung..is really copying something from others.. why to give a s**t about that.. They are getting the best from others n summing up with what they already have. That will be an advatage for us; the consumers.

u can't cry foul for everything u invented is copied by someone else.. Lets say SE have long way back come up with Bluetooth on their handsets..and Nokia picked it up as well..and ofcourse all other mobile companies later. Now see..we are able to see superfast Bluetooth V3, which wouldn't have happened if only SE is still using that and no one else "copied" (accouding to guys) it.

So stop blaming Sammy for copying..

[deleted post]Well nothing like that..........Samsung stands nowhere..........it is a copy cat.......problem with Samsung is bandwagon effect......it cannot think beyond except releasing semi-finished and half-tested devices with no support.......after few months, you will hardly hear of any samsung phone........but it is not the same with other brands....yeah LG mobiles, they are also the ones you forget.............and dude I have used mobiles of all manufacturers and let me tell you, Samsung and LG are the worst of the lot...even worse than some local manufacturers...nothing to criticize but thats the fact...

I have mine on order and can't wait to get my hands on this phone. I don't really care about the apps store. super amoled screen, 720p mkv video and 1ghz processor and impeccable sound quality for music. Thats enough for me. The price is so reasonable for a feature packed phone. The sony vivaz is $990 NZD here and I got the wave for $650 NZD. Now that is value!!

To elevate their status as a phone maker (not only as phone manufacturer), they need their own self developed OS. And for a first attempt, they are doing well and garnered good reviews along. It's good for the image and know how if you have your own OS ya know. Why follow when you can lead?

From what I can make out in the pictures (in this review page at least), most of the widgets take barely half the amount of screen real estate, at most. Compare it with Sense UI's widgets, which almost always take more than half of the screen.
