15 April 2011
It was the alliance with Android that put Motorola out of the woods. Like every partnership, it’s been a series of peaks and dips but every now and then the relationship between Motorola and Android goes beyond a mere marriage of...

BT function. software to sync with PC & copy out text messages. all the 'premium' functions back then.

and iphone have not even existed yet. so, apple fanboys should not really be disappointed if iphone is not used as comparison.

touchscreen? hmmm... reminds me of htc's earlier phones.

Granted its spec'd up a bit since '07, and Apple are in business to make money (gasp), but in terms of where the next 'game changer' that everyone has to build a 'killer' for is coming from; who are the world's technology giants looking at?

But Apple really deserves some credit for bringing the "touchscreen era" with the iPhone, but that's all. There isn't any "innovation" coming from them anymore, in fact, the only "innovation" that iPhone brought was the UI, touchscreen phones were already on the market for some years, and who plains to buy an Atrix or any Dual-core smartphone doesn't care for iPhone.
                      Now move along fanboy.

How come the iPhone isn't mentioned in this review as one of the alternatives to Moto's latest offering?
The amount of influence Apple's design has on all these handsets is almost shameful. Pre-iPhone you didn't find phones that did 'it all', 'customers want lots of variety!' the marketing men cried, as in: 'they want lots of degrees of rubbish to choose from', now everyone's about their current 'flagship' model, all of which are beginning to look more and more iPhone-esque - in physical design and software - and do more and more.
Why do we have such a problem admitting that Apple's the only real innovator in consumer technology anymore? Seems the rest of the pack is struggling to keep up; but tweaking someone else's design isn't innovation - though imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ;)
