So the trade off for the glass back is a NON REMOVABLE BATTERY AND NON EXPANDABLE MEMORY.
Main disadvantages
No microSD card slot
No Jelly Bean at launch
Mediocre sunlight legibility
Non user-replaceable battery
13MP camera hardly any better than competitors' 8MP units
You must understand that Samsung's main reason for the plastic back is the battery accessibility that you cannot possibly do with a glass. Samsung considers the convenience of changing the battery with ease. It's the reason why the Optimus G Pro also have removable glittery PLASTIC back cover mainly to access the battery.

Last year, it was the smartphone to beat that's why LG made the G Pro as "THE NOTE 2 KILLER" then armed it with the latest hardware and software. Do you think it is fair to compare a device from 2012 to the one released in 2013? Innovation in tech world within one year takes leaps and bounds so expect the Note 3 coming this year to be on par or even better than the G Pro.
Popular gadgets (like the iphone) are emulated but those days are gone. Now people are looking for the Note 2 or Note 3 killer.

it is actually MADE of PREMIUM MATERIALS,BOTH FRONT and BACK were made of elegant polarized glasses.

The worst thing they did is made the back of some LG phones glittery that it looks very feminine. It will look awkward if a big hunky man uses it.

Samsung won TWO times ( s2 for 2011 & s3 for 2012)as device of the year @ MWC just simple because it sold million phones and they got billions of money involved ...
but in REALITY LG phone (Optimus G)is by far better performer! except for the sales& because its not a popular as samsung. s2, or s3.

i want both good build quality and good design and those what lg and sony are.
samsung phones are very popular , but look cheap plastic design.
samsung won best device because of its # of sales(popularity)..
but in real performance s3 is nothing compare to lg optimus g.

Now Samsung started the phablet with Galaxy Note. Many people thought the size looks ridiculous. But when competitors saw that it was a hit then everybody scrambled to get their phablet market share most notably is LG who almost copied the Note 2 sans S Pen stylus.

f.y.i. optimus g was released worldwide with jelly beans (out of the box)
except these 4 countries (korea, japan, u.s.a.& canada) these countries got their optimus g ics version , but lg already rolling out jelly beans update for them...
samsung galaxy s3 is made of cheap plastic & inspired by soap toy!
while lg optimus g is made of premium materials ( gorilla glass front & back ) it looks very elegant phone,
won so many design awards worldwide...
redot, if and many more design's awards...
s3 is a loser.... it just a popular , but not better than optimus g.

Love LG/Sony/htc and moto.......I love these not so famous brands :) I get bored when I see the same brand phone everywhere I go! Shooooosh! #i won't mention names of those I don't like # our little secret ;)
