Still hoping Samsung would make a midrange phone this size with A52 5G specs (one less camera and slightly smaller battery for obvious reasons). I bet the midrange SOC would less likely cause any overheating issues.

I have a problem with Themes app. It doesn't let me apply any theme after I downloaded it and gives me an error message.
Does anybody else encounter similar problem?

All this time i had my galaxy s7 on me as a 2ndary phone. And guess what,? The s7 is the best of the old shape factor (ie: with a physical home button in the bottom centre. I really love it and keep it for nostolgic purpose. I have had each and every galaxy s smartphone starting from the original galaxy s back in 2011.

I haven't had any "overheating issues" like some commenters. The phone has been on point for everything I've done. Best phone I've ever owned. I come from a Samsung Galaxy S7 though.

I think I found out why it's overheating: They removed the heat pipe that was present in their pervious flagships (like the S7 - S10). They removed it first on the S20, now on their S21 series. What made it worse is the plastic back, preventing the heat from escaping.

I was excited to purchase a brand new S21 5G to replace a really old phone that was struggling to text anymore. Purchased an unlocked model directly from Samsung (mistake).

Samsung shipped a device with defective 5G. Calls completed while 5G was active would have outbound audio but silence on my end. I spoke with different humans at Samsung Tech Support over 10 times. I also had at least 4 chats with tech support through their website and they kept saying to call, but then the call center didn't do anything. I was promised callbacks from supervisors twice but they never called back. I was hung up on and transferred to random other companies outside of Samsung. I asked for a copy of the warranty but they couldn't provide it. Their twitter tech support asked to speak with me on a private chat and also did nothing. They did have me factory reset the phone twice and go through a couple SIM cards.

When I finally got them to agree to warranty service, they sent me to their contracted external provider uBreakiFix who said the unit was defective from the manufacturer and had a bad 5G antenna. (They also didn't have a record of my appointment for warranty service and told me to come back a different day)

At this point with a manufacturing problem you'd think a multi-billion dollar corporation would just replace it, since it was their fault and under warranty.

Instead of replacing the defective phone, Samsung wanted me to send it in for another round of diagnostics. However, I no longer had a backup phone because of the whole trade-in offer, so now I was expected to be without a phone while working with patients at a hospital during a pandemic or go spend money on a temporary phone for 5 days to 15 days depending on which support person you believe. (This process was taking months.)

Anyways, sent it in, their tech support factory reset it (we'd done this 3 times already), didn't bother to call us for any questions or clarification, said it passed their diagnostics so the phone was fine. They had said if it was broken they were going to be sending a refurbished phone in trade for a brand new phone that had never worked correctly anyway.

Just before doing a credit card chargeback for a 5G phone with defective 5G, T-Mobile who was in no way related to any of this other than being my carrier actually reached out to me and comped a brand-new S21 5G and took the defective one in trade.

The new device from T-mobile, identical in every other way down to the color, works flawlessly.

(T-mobile had also checked all of my cell towers in person at home and work and determined them to be in working order).

Samsung customer support is terrible and they will not honor their own warranty. And while you try to get them to do so they'll drive you mad. Terrible company and I do not recommend this phone.

If it works, it's great. If it's defective, you're out $600-900 with no chance of getting it fixed.
