So i bought one in 2015 for 500$... it still works and i still am currently using it. I totally love these phones for multiple reason... they were flagship.... so also want to say... i bought extra batterys because i am constantly using it... and pretty much have no time to wait for the battery to chage. when i battery dies... i replace it with one that is fully charged. so needless to say... i own about 5 of these phones... one thru verizion, one thru att, one thru sprint... because of the fact that i wanted to see the software differences... i am a super tech savvy kind of guy. i was originally using these to write progams on with my bluetooth keyboard... they work flawlessly. the issue i was having is the screen was not big enough for me to be able to see the all the lines of code in a function or area of code i needed. so i bought the tablet smt350... i left reviews on that awesome thing. back to the S5... i do have to say... puting a custom ROM on it works wounders... but totally have to make sure it will work because there are always some things that may not when the device has a customization installation. I also purchased a wireless charger for the phone so i can set it on that while im not using it. only bad thing about the thing i have to say is... i cant play call of duty mobile.... oh well. thanks for reading. God Bless!

My S5 suffers from years of use. Spectrum advises me that my new S5 will not serve in their network. I've been saving this new Galaxyy S5 for years thinking it would peck out. What a twist. My fear is that no other camera will give those results, be as faithful.

KP, 28 Jun 2019I'm still using the S5 mid-2019 daily, running LineageOS on... morere: declining battery life, Li-Ion batteries wear out. but a new one see if that does not improve things .

i just bought a used but in great condition s5 900a unlocked off ebay for 50.00 us.the person selling it had done a total factory reset so it was running android 4.4.2 when i got it. i am NOT a cell phone expert but after a few hours of web crawling i found a simple easy guide WITH all the needed links to get files and managed to update it to Android 6.0.1 marshmallow. used ODIN followed the guys instructions and in about 10 to 15 minutes my phone is now able to run the apps i needed, which 4.4.2 would not allow.

Great phone. With a Otter Box, my phone is still running great. Only problem, programmed obsolescence. Newer apps not compatible.

No need to look for a reason to buy new Samsung garbages. Galaxy S5 was best ever made by Samsung's model.
1-When your battery was dead, you don't need any service center to change battery(Service center prices are like a nightmare).
2-All new garbages still has no good quality camera than S5.
3-All new garbages are NON-REMOVABLE battery.
4-If you had G900H model with 8 cores chip can be faster than new garbages(Of course FW must be custom. Because, Samsung specially didn't upgrade Android version and this model's FW to find new victims who has money to waste it.)
5-Buying new one is meaningless for me.

Bought an S5 and a Ravpower battery for less than $75 in 2020. What a bargain! If you don't play any games and just need a work phone that runs LineageOS I can't think of a better choice than this. Make sure you read the LineageOS device list carefully, not all variants are supported.

16GBphonestorage:(, 13 Feb 2020I think it could be your cable. Try using different cables,... moreExactly, it's a super connectable phone. I'm a Linux user, no problems with USB or Samba Share or the WiFile app. As for USB, I have the USB on-the-go cable and I can connect my S5 to a USB stick, or even connect a mouse to it, a cursor appears and it can be used like on a computer (really somewhat pointless, but it works).

Paulo, 15 Nov 2019I have one from at&t and Everytime I plug it into a lap... moreAs a further note maybe you havent turned on the USB file transfer option support.
Usually the first time you plug a usb connecting a laptop to the s5 it would ask you whether to leave it as a charging cable or to be able to transfer media.

The s5 is a former flagship and even low budget and entry level phones support usb, so its either the cable or the laptop, cant possibly be the phone itself 🤷♂️

Actually just retired this phone. I was able to keep this in one piece with the otterbox for years. Wouldn't you know it, I take it out to clean and that's when I drop it. Anyways, overall pretty good. Will agree the battery has a pretty short life span but that might be because I've had it for years (long life span for phone). I have the A10e now, or did, thing only lasted a few months, bUT that was my fault in assuming it too was water resistant, whoops.

What a piece of @#$%. The camera is rubbish. An old Huawei beats it hands down and everything is so laborious.
