And metals have higher ability to electrocute anyone.
I prefer less danger, plastic.
By the way, S5 have option to change the battery.
No need to charge it, just change the battery with extra one and you can continue to use it for calling, messaging and browsing while the other battery is charging on the cradle. You will not miss important or emergency calls and the danger of using it while charging is eliminated.

They are both dangerous.
So the material doesn't matter.
What matters now is the design.
S5 design is not bad.
In fact it is more ergonomic to hold than other smartphones.

Everyone recommends don't answers to a call while charging your phone. It doesn't matter whether your phone is metal or plastic.
There is a huge probability me to buy the HTC One E8.

If HTC One E8 better than my metal HTC One M8, I may buy it. All I need great built quality as HTC, Lumia or Apple device. Similarly, I need to Samsung to optimise their Touchwiz performance. If they achieved those two factors, I will buy a Samsung phone. All I need a phone with great built quality (this doesn't mean always metal) and super smooth user experience.

You pay for the expensive cost of the metal body to cover it.
Better buy a cheap plastic bodied phone and cover it with expensive material.

You don't like the Galaxy S5 because of its laggy Touchwiz. You like HTC but it's metal. So you hate metal phones. Finally, there is an option for you to buy a high-end HTC Phone. Have you heard about the HTC One (E8)?. It has a polycarbonate back.
I don't understand how metal phones distract GPS signals. I have two metal phones, they work fine. Just visit to XDA Developers forum, you will find there are some users complaining about the GPS issues on Nexus 5 and Galaxy S4. All of them are plastic phones. Today, modern cars have GPS functionality; so how we use the GPS function on these cars if metal distracts the GPS signals?

As you mentioned the electric shock incident of iPhone 5.
Plastic is a good insulator that will not conduct electiricty, safety first!
Are you going to risk the safety of your family for metal phone?

I am sure you will cover your expensive phone with bumper and other available covers to avoid scratches.
So your phone metal body will not be visible, it's useless.
I use a leather faux flip cover for my S5 and it feels more premium than metal.

I was a HUGE hater of plastic too you know. I sold the S4, and bought an M7. Then I saw the dark sides of Aluminium. GPS reception was pathetic in comparison with S4, got shocked, a lesson was learnt. From now on only plastic / poly carbonate.

The Xperia Z2 also has a glassy back. One of my colleague is using it, no any single of problem other than overheating. When Samsung releases their Galaxy F metal phone, I may buy it.

Being said that, Samsung has terrible build quality. But that applies for S3, Note 2, Note 3 and S4. S5 is of great build quality. Comparing it with an iPhone 5S is nothing but a joke. Right now the strongest device is hTC M8, no questions asked. Then it's the S5. Then Z2, and then G3 (exclude the Nokias please).
Using glass on a phone is a terrible idea, horrible. If there's only one company in this world I respect that would be Sony. But I've never owned a single Xperia Android, and I won't unless they stop using glass on their devices.
I don't use anything for show off by the way.

How about the reaction from the news of explosion... moreI agree with that iPhone 5 electric shock incident and we see news regarding Samsung's cheap build quality in every year. Generally, Samsung phones can't come closer to an HTC or iPhone in build quality. Except build quality, Samsung phones are great.
Regarding the Eric's post, he mentioned about the signal reception. It could happen, sometimes my HTC M8 has a better signal than my iPhone 5s and vice versa. I can't really give an answer for that because phones don't have a static signal reception capability. But your reply to him reflects the performance of the both phones. It's obvious that iPhone 4 can't come closer to the Galaxy S5 but it's too old to compare with the Galaxy S5. If you need to compare an iPhone with a Galaxy S5, just use an iPhone 5s or even upcoming iPhone 6.
