Anonymous, 28 Jan 2009Hi, how is the performance of this phone? UI? is it so muc... moreHi,

Performance of Omnia is excellent. Its very responsive..no lagging..nothing. Thanks to the newer faster processor.

UI of Omnia (Widget) based is nice. It may take some time before you get used to it. But there are many themes & ROM's which you can very easily port to the handset. Which makes it highly customizable. So dont worry on that front, you can install the ROM you are comfortable with ease.

Battery life is excellent. Its almost double the battery life of HTC Touch Diamond. Mine lasts 1-2 days, depends upon the usage. Omnia has a ambient light sensor. Which can automatically adjust the screen brightness/contrast, according to the surronding condition. That helps to the battery.

I will suggest to wait till April. Price will definitely come down. You have 2 months. Sure you will get a good deal. Since you're looking for all in one device...Omnia's the best right now in the market. I already furnished why its a overall package...refer to my earlier posts. So better you wait.

If at all price doesnt come down, and since ur on tight budget...5800 Express music is also a good choice. It has definitely better sound quality than Omnia. Also, it has got a bit of everything thats in Omnia. So yes go for it... if it suits ur budget. Else wait for 2 months... not much time :)

Bob K, 27 Jan 2009Hi, It's total nonsense that you cant see anything under... moreHi,
how is the performance of this phone? UI? is it so much better than 5800's? is it sluggish? Those it hang a lot? Can you install the latest flash on the omnia?
          how's the battery life?

The only concern for the omnia is the price. the price is not within my budget yet. My budget is around 350-360usd. The price or omnia in my country now is around 450usd. Should i wait the price to go down because i really need an all-in-one phone before April? Can it really go down to to my budget? Is it really worth the wait?

If omnia can't go down to that price before april, is the nokia 5800 recommendable for me judging by my situation? I've tried it last week. Most part of the OS is very snappy. Around 1-2 apps of the phone is kinda laggy. one of which is the bounce game. The screen resolution and sound is so nice but the camera is not that good. Overall the nokia 5800 is good but not as good as omnia. tnx

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2009they say that it's almost unseeable when under direct sunli... moreHi,

It's total nonsense that you cant see anything under sunlight. I agree its not that bright. But you can easily work. And its common for most of the Top of the line PDA right now. Though iphone scores here.

Dont bother about Sunlight. Just go and check for urself. You will definitely agree with me.

When i went to purchase Omnia, i had similar doubts. But when i saw the phone, checked properly ... there was no looking back.

As for comparison to Nokia 5800, i think Omnia scores at:

                        1) Processor: Omnia's got fastest Processor(624 Mhz). No other Top line PDA comes close to that. 5800 has only (369 Mhz). With Omnia working on multiple programs is a breeze. I doubt about 5800.

                        2) Build Quality: Omnia is definitely better in build quality than 5800. I have seen both these models. Omnia feels more strong & sturdy.

                        3) Camera: Omnia's got 5 Megapix camera with wide range of options. 5800 has only 3.2 Mpx. So definitely Omnia is much better here.

                        4) Video Playback: Omnia is Divx certified. Also it has supports many other formats too like Xvid,mpeg-4,wmv..to name a few. Video playback is flawless. You can just play about any type of Video on Omnia.

Nokia 5800 has no inbuilt Divx/Xvid support. Moreover it has a newer version of Symbian OS..so no 3rd party solution available yet to run Divx/Xvid. May be in future there will be some. Till then you can only run Mp4 vids on 5800.

                        5) Operating System: Omnia has got Windows Mobile 6.1 , so there are wide range of applications you can install. Nokia 5800 having newer OS...you wont find many compatible application as of now.

Nokia 5800 score over Omnia at:

                        1) Sound Quality: Sound is better than Omnia, i would be wrong if i say no. But that doesnt mean Omnia is inferior in this department. Its Good if not better.

Other than this i think both are same in features more or less.

If you are a Music Freak, and want the best sound quality, you can go for 5800. Otherwise overall Omnia beats 5800 clearly.

Hope this helps you in making right decision.

                        Bob

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2009BOB, thks for the review. I too am thinking of getting the ... moreHi,

Well i have Omnia i900 (GSM) And it has only 1 speaker..that is in front. Its loud enough. You can easily listen to in noisy places. As from my experience. No problems on that front.

Omnia i910(CDMA) , which is currently available in USA only under Verizon ... has one additional speaker at the back. Since i havent used that one, i can't comment on how the front & Back speakers work. But yes logically, as you said... front speaker should be earpiece and rear speaker as loud speaker.

I would rate it on par with Nokia. SE yes...its the best.

But if you see overall as a package, nothing can beat Omnia right now. Be it Processor Speed, Camera, Video Playback, and full range of software support.

You should definitely go and check Omnia. Compare with other Nokia or SE models. You will see what i mean.

                          Bob

BOB, thks for the review. I too am thinking of getting the omnia. As for the loudspeaker at the rear casing, will the front speaker turned on too when the phone rings or playing music? Or front speaker as earpiece and rear speaker as loud speaker?

is loudspeaker loud enuff in noisy areas? Probably cannot beat nokia and SE :(

Nothing to worry about the speakers. I use it a lot many time. So far no complaints.

Also, just for ur information... the audio chip used by Apple is manufactured by Samsung itself. And the same is used in Omnia too. So you can judge for urself :)
