Anonymous, 20 Aug 2008the problem is that samsung have had massive media attentio... moreThe better networks in the UK are not taking it in now and what that means is that they want a solid product which works...Now phones 4 u...in some act of desperation are sellin this phone to boost sales but what u are getiing is not the uk release.
Orange have no mention of the omnia so I dont understand how people are commenting on this.
O2 will release it...and no dont worry about them doing the Iphone because they are a business at the end of the day and they will not want to loose out on any business from the omnia.

the problem is that samsung have had massive media attention on this phone and by not releasing information as to when the phone will be released, really brings their rep down because you think that samsung cant deliver and on top of that, the networks get a bad rep for not stocking for the phones, orange and phones 4 u all have the tocco and theyve released the omnia, many network providers are now going to be very disappointed as they see their customers leave to get this phone, im really get impatient now and might just go get the iphone instead ... Not happy ..

singlelayer, 20 Aug 2008Right. Carphone Warehouse and e2save (owned by CPW) have it... moreexactly having a buggy phone now and then stressing to get it fixed is not a good idea...when if u just wait for it for some time to get a nearly bug free phone...I mean it is samsungs first WM phone and they ahve done a hell of a job on it so waiting a little bit more shouldnt be too bad

Right. Carphone Warehouse and e2save (owned by CPW) have it available right now. They have 200 units in stock but as I'm an O2 'online select' customer, CPW can't upgrade me until I'm completely out of my 18 month contract. O2 will allow me to upgrade up to three months early (which is now) but they don't have the Omnia available yet. I suspect as mentioned below, the handsets from CPW and the like will be the first ROM version and waiting should ensure less bugs.

For Uk people
Ok, here's the scoop...I found out from an old friend who works in Samsung...he doesnt work in the mobiles department but he asked them on my request...There are 2 major reasons the Omnia release is being witheld in the UK...the first one is the TOCCO, now samsung has invested quite heavily in this phone and it is doing rather well in the market...releasing the omnia in the market right now will mean that Tocco sales might drop...now Samsung is not too chuffed about this but the networks are as they have bought lots of stock...so selling a much better version of the Tocco and also bear in mind that prices have to be lower than the Iphone(omnia's main competitor), the networks will be left over with loads of stock and no one would want to buy.
The other reason is that the worldwide release has had some bugs...so the networks and Samsung want to have this fixed before doing a full blown release. He also mentioned that places doing the omnia might still have the one with ROM v2 but apparently there is a new one being designed whih will b in all UK released stock.
The big question now---so when is it coming out...he said that they are positive of doing a full blown launch towards the end of August or very early september...and this is true because they have to get the market into the omnia before they can launch the INNOV8 which will be a direst competitor for thne N96...
hope this helps

Via http://nl.samsungmobile.com/ you ca... moreHey Jason,
That's not completely correct. You cannot (pre) order your omnia on the website. You can only register your name, and send them a copy of your receipt once you have bought the Omnia in a store (so you'll have to get it yourself). Then, if you are one of the first 100 or 500 customers, you will win a xbox or 8gb memory card. And it will come with 8Gb internal memory according to their press release: http://nl.samsungmobile.com/footer/press/pressReleasesView.do

For the Philippine buyers. Thanks for the posts! In Samsung Galleria Ortigas, the 8gb goes for 36k and the 16gb is 42K. Apparently, it costs higher in Samsung's boutiques =b Better find other dealers, so long as they carry good warranties that is.

Samsung say EVENTUALLY (christmas??) the Omnia will be available in the UK. Some web sellers ie mobile.co.uk had the Omnia available on O2 and now its pulled!
Samsung G810, Experia and others have been announced 6 months ago and have never made it to the stores. They are now obsolete before they are available. Omnia may well follow this pattern, due to the chronic apathy and dilatory treatment of the networks.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2008Sometimes you just wonder how these companies plan on bring... moreThere may be commercial or technical reasons or both for the appallingly bad way UK customers are being treated by the networks. They do not deserve our custom, but as long as they work as a cartel, they will do as they want. Just good manners would mean clear information is put out about availability but we are not even treated to that, in short totally pissed off now.
