1. Design & Construction: Rating - 9/10

Design is pretty personal thing as all of us know. But Wave's design definetly wins most of the hearts out there. It is sleek, elegant, smooth, classy and sexy. I accept there are less takers for diamond cuts over it. Even I am not a fan of those initially, but over the time I feel them to be unique in the world of squares and circles. The brusehd metal finish gives the mobile a solid and classy feel. Yes, at times I feel it might slip from my hand. It is definetly not a deal breaker, but one need to be a bit careful not to let it fall. It is the price u need to pay for having scrath resistant & non-smudgy metal surface.
The plactic on top and bottom is definilty not my favourite. It is glossy and cheap looking .. typical Sammy. God knows when will they (samsung) get rid of this junk from thier otherwise well designed handsets. I guess this has been the biggest deal breaker for several perople out there who kept away from Galaxy S. Thank God they have used it to the minimum in Wave, where platic an absolute necessary for proper antenna reception. It would have been great if they went for a better plastic finish. Like Matt plastic for example with rubbery finish (which can absorb a bit more shock, can hide more scratches and will take less smudges than the glossy thing).
Coming to the battery cover, I dont know if it only with my hanset, it is little bit loose but cant say it as wobbly. The opening mechanism is great which doesn't require a hard pull/push nonsense as we generall find in other Sammys. Non-hot swappable Micro SD card slot is no big deal for me. I can happily live with it. Removing the repacking the battery and Sim card can be done without any hasseles.
Having a movable cover for Micro USB port instead of regular pull-and-turn rubber cap is a nice idea. The 3.5mm jack & speaker are placed in right areas. Volume rocker and Camera buttons are made of durable materials, well positioned and perfectly integrated with the metal body. But I have my reservations with the unlock key. It is better than the Nokia's idiotic slide-to-unlock mechanism, which over the time dies due to wear and tear. But still when pressing it for locking/unlocking, I feel that it also may not last long enogh. But hey, u have slide to unlock option nonetheless; not an issue.
Coming to the most important part..the screen. Yes I am happy that it is highly scratch resistant. But it is not as solid one as N8's. It is brittle and suceptible to breakage on a nasty fall. So one need to protect it with scratch gaurd, silicon pouch, bumper or whatever he/she feel like. the finish of the screen is excellent. It might mot be totally anti-smudge, but it is scratch resistant & silky smooth. The rised edges of Wave near the top and the bottom is a novel idea to prevent it from touching the base when placed upside down. The Menu key and call keys are well made with nice ergonics. I cant comment on their durability; though they are far better than that of several nokia's counterparts in this aspect.
All in all I am very much happy about the design and construction of Wave.

Hi guys,
After using this beauty for more than one month, I felt like writing my opinions on Wave without any bias/obsession/fanboyism as far as possible.
Disclaimer:

1. I might be a bit inclined to Sammy only becos of my previous frustrations with Nokias I had. But I will try my best to avoid such inclination.
2. Whenever there's a comparision, I will always try do it by keeping Value-for-Price in my mind.
3. Few of my experiences/opinions might not be facts. It is just what I HAVE FELT over the time. And so these might change in future.
4. I am an IT guy; but into Mainframe Application development. So have very little knowledge about Open System's (JAVA, .NET, C++ per se) applications and OS (system level stuff). So this has to be considered merely as an USER OPINION and NOT a GEEK'S REVIEW.
5. My posts might not help those who want to buy a new New Wave I; since the roumers say it is already discontinued. This is just to express my feelings.
I will keep posting My opinions on Wave w.r.t various features one-by-one in the coming 3-4 days.

hey guys pls uncheck the buttons "run flash" and "play sound" in the browser "preference" menu n see how much faster the browser will work.

Anonymous, 23 Nov 2010u can dmload from opera.com/mobile from the phone browser.yes you can download from the phones browsers. if you look on youtube under "samsung wave opera" there is a tutorial on how to set it up for the wave.

hiiiiii iam from gurgaon i have this wAVE its been so long whenever the recent updates come my version is 1.5.3 now when my phones firmware will be upgraded currently it is jh1 bada 1.0 plzzzzzzz heelpp it would really thankfull i would do anything for it byeee tcc people

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2010fellow wavers.. i need help. i think my tiki surf app is in... morei had the exactly the same problem.an update that never went away although i updated it.the way i fixed it was this:open apps store from your phone(not samsung kies)so if possible use wi-fi if you dont have a data plan.then use the pull-up menu(...)at the bottom,go into my page then downloads then update.had to do it 2 times in a row.it got rid of the constant update notifications but a week later they came back.now i still have the update notice in the apps store but i got rid of the number on the apps icon on my phone screen.

its been three months since i m using wave.. damn damn great device.. fast always.. never rebooted itself or hang.. browsing is smooth, menu scroll or transition is also smooth, smooth everywhere everytime.. enough apps on store.. useful apps are enough in number on app store except nimbuzz and opera (though java versions are available, they dont take full advantage of hardware capabilities).. battery backup is fairly good on 3g network also.. mine lasts two days at 1hr browsing on 3g, 1hr on wifi, 1hr as wifi ap, 1hrs of music on headphones, 1.5hrs of calls daily and "full time showoff".. dont play games anymore.. simply loving it.. hats off to samsung for creating such a masterpiece..
