dee, 19 Jul 2010this phone has it all. and the rumors about the screen bein... moreNo, I tested AMOLED versus TFT in T-MOBILE and AT&T stores, in San Francisco, California. TFT is much better than Super AMOLED. Super AMOLED is FUZZY.
I see nobody buying Galaxy as Vibrant and Captivate in California; all are in line waiting for preordered iPhone. I don't have an iPhone and truly hoped Galaxy to be better than iPhone. But it is not and I can't lie.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2010Here in California no Galaxy had in store screen protection... morethis phone has it all. and the rumors about the screen being bad. those are lie. instead of just being honest, i see alot of biased people posting comments here. trashing phones that they themselves do not own. just because they have seen it on Utube or facialbook. lol.. iTs smooth, the browser is awesome, no lag. and you can pretty much do whatever it is you want on this. Even holding it anyway you want. lol.

Anyway there is the pinch zoom if you want a better readibility. BTW I could not find a definitive proof that the Samsung Galaxy S uses pentile technology. But even if it uses it I cant see any problem with it.

I love this phone! This is the perfect phone. I love the speed, the flash enabled browser, the swipe:), the screen, the build quality. I would like to know if any of its users has a complaint about it.

PenTile technology used in Super AMOLED is the root of fuzziness for smaller text: through some optical tricks they use RG-BG sub pixels instead of RGB sub pixels like in TFT thus emphasizing green light (the eye is more sensitive to green) by reducing number of sub pixels on screen, to create an optical illusion for higher resolution; when you have geometric images on screen made from regular shapes the optical illusion of high resolution is failing. This PenTile is a compromising technology without future, a transitory step in display evolution.

I want it. I have a Motorola Cliq... would anyone whom has this phone suggest switching? Would it be worth it? How is the keyboard.. I am not too fond of the touchscreen keyboard on my Cliq.. Any feedback can help!

Formerly had an iPhone (JB). Apple just discontinued software support for my device. Decided to upgrade to this instead of a new iPhone because I'm happy with Tmo. Other carriers in the US kinda suck..and $$$.
Anyway, I upgraded to Vibrant and after having this phone for a few days, I can happily say that I'm in love with it. The display is just stunning! Nice of Tmo to show it off by including Avatar. I've had no lagging, contrary to what you might read from others. I'm not sure how they might be handling the device, but it's totally responsive for me...high sensitivity.
I was kinda bored with iPhone OS before and it's just plain fun to play with this Samsung. It's back down to user preference. Both devices are great. However, I've read two stories saying this phone has the same "death grip" issue as iPhone, but it's BS. I've had zero issues with reception on this phone.

Why does the VIBRANT show 6.5 hrs talktime and the GALAXY S show 13.5 hrs talktime? Aren't they using the same battery? Can ANYBODY explain?

Dithering was due to plastic protect... moreHere in California no Galaxy had in store screen protection with film and yet the dithering is miserable, having to do with bad AMOLED technology; BAD PIXELATION COMING FROM AMOLED DOES BAD DITHERING. Any TFT is better for the same size and resolution.

But still not perfect. Two major problems remain: hell visible pixelation of screen and no flash.

Then load the same web page on both phones for instance www.gsmarena.com and try to read this message that I posted on vertical orientation so that to be the characters like 1-2 mm. Then you'll see how hard it to be read on Super AMOLED versus TFT. I made tests several times going to buy Galaxy 2-3 times but changed my mind each time. I wished to be better Super AMOLED.
TFT is by far, far clearer than Super AMOLED.

Apple desperately wanted Samsung's AMOLED for the iphone 4 because they knew it was the best display available for the new phone, but couldn't get it. Samsung refused. So Apple had to go to LG for the retina LCD display. AMOLED is way advanced and so much better thatn any LCD.
