I have just changed my mobile from samsung USB connection to Qualcomm USB connection and it seems to have considerably speeded up the transferring files to and from the phone!

      Thanks for your asnwer Andy!

To my needs, a battery running down fast is not as bad as the unnability to edit/menege contacts and messeges using cable connection. And PC Sync worked really bad to me, having lots of failures. Kept the phone cause it was so cheap, and the phone itself is great.

In that same forum you menction before, run a search for THM Editor 0.8. It's software wich allows you to create or modify themes for ZV10. When creating themes, there is an option to create/modify those startup/shutdown jingles and images. Software is in spanish and you need to have NET Framework installed for it to work.

This next firmware I might try is supposed to take away the vodaf*ne live stuff from the phone and the operator logo and I am hoping the right live button can be changed then. - I hope if it don't work out for me that I can put the phone back to how it was!!

Here is where I found it (its in spanish!):

            To Alex:

Nothing changes at all that I can see - I think the battery is lasting longer after the update.

Yes you can use the USB cable supplied in the box you don't have to buy another one.

Unfortunately the same items are still grayed out in the PC suite. - I wish they weren't grayed out I want to be able to back up and edit my SMS's and Phone book on the PC.

                To Andy:

Can you tell us what are the advantages of updating firmware?
Can we update using connection cable suplied with phone, or must we get another cable?
Once updating firmware, are all apps available in PC Suite, or Contacts Manager, Messege Manager etc are still greyd out?

                Thanks

                  To Mickey:
You have to download onto the PC the correct downloader for the ZV10. The downloader is: ZV10_MultiLoader_101.exe and put the details in from: ZV10BUEK1.zip file Then you have to set the Phone into Download Mode by pressing 9 and red power on button at the same time.

I am not the best at explaining how to do it but I managed to update it fine. Please nobody blame me if something goes wrong and if it wrecks your phone - do it at you own risk :-)

Unfortunately the firmware update doesn't do anything to the 'live' button which is a shame - its still there and un-configurable!

I would be intrigued if there was another way to customize that button and get rid of the operator / network logo on the phone. Its most probably a matter of time until someone comes up with a solution for that.

Great phone!I used to own a sharp gx30i but when it broke down I considered to buy something cheaper.I found zv10 and although i thought it would be a zero in contrast with sharp I now believe that I found the best phone in its category.I could say better than the gx30i.However I found it a little difficult to get used with the keyboard but this is a minus problem to come up with. The only drawback may be the batterry duration. The phone is almost perfect and I reccommend it. :-)

Can you tell us how did you update the firmware? Also, with the new firmware is it possible to replace the bottom right 'soft key' with another function instead of 'Live'? If not with the new firmware perhaps there is another way to do that, anyone knows?

Anyone having trouble setting schedule on this phone. I have set in so it does a daily schedule and it keeps telling me that the end date should be longer than the repeat term date even though I have!
So it wont let me set a daily schedule.

To Ed, Yes you would think that it would charge the phone at the same time whilst connected by USB cable but no it doesn't which is a bad design. My wife has a Motorola mobile which charges by USB socket so as you are transferring files its charging the phone at the same time.

I think myself now that the battery lasts a bit longer with the new firmware - (unless its all in the mind) maybe an extra day I get out of it but it still seems to go quickly to 1 red bar when I am using the phone but stays on that red bar for ages until it needs charging. I have all the UTMS (3g) feature and other stuff turned of as well.

Jose, the Ipod file size was just over 3 and a half megabytes. I reckon it sounds the same quality as mp4 I cant really tell the difference myself they are both clear.

                                Hi all,
Got the ZV10 last week, got a couple of questions. Seems to me the PC data cable should be able to charge the phone from the USB power - can this be done? Second question, Andy, you say you updated the firmware, any news on the effects of the update?
Finally, to Carlos who asked ages ago about changing the alarm volume, the 'wake up' alarm can't be changed, but you can set any of the other alarms and they will follow your active profile, so you can just turn down the ringing volume and you're set.

                                Ed

                                  ANDY,

What is the size of those songs? And is the quality better than those in mp4? I have now 25 songs in mp4, and its great! It's size goes from 800-1000kb, and the quality is 128kb/s, I'm doing that using NERO 7. If those songs from IPOD are better quality plz tell me!
                                  THANKS

Wicked! I just found out you can transfer ipod music (m4a)files straight to the zv10 without converting them and the zv10 will play them fine :-)

It seems stupid that you cannot seem to organise your contacts and text messages on the PC with the USB cable and the PC Studio software - what a shame these features are disabled.

What a shame as well that you cant see the phone as an extra drive (mass storage device) in 'My Computer' on the PC and have to use the PC studio software to transfer files to and from PC to phone.
