all SE phones have problem with the joystick. thats wat is stopping me from buying this phone. its not that expensive also here at rs.21500. watchout for the software its not g8r...hangs

Each market is different. That is why most of company websites (nokia, SE, etc.), usually have a disclaimer that memory card size vary depending on location. As far as I can tell, the SE USA website has no specifics on which memory card is included. I would go back to the "Alfa" website and see how much memory it says is included.
I don't think contacting SE will do you any good. Including only 64MB memory makes perfect sense for sony, because then you have to buy more memory, so sony profits from it.

While I agree that it would probably be a good combination for both the cybershot and walkman features on one phone, I doubt SE will be combining the two any time soon. Each one is targeting to different groups of people. Also, the combination of the two features would probably cause SE to raise the price significantly on such a phone.

Hi,
I bought ths piece 2 days back from ALfa in Andheri for 21400 INR. What I noticed was I got only 64 MB of Memory stick with it. though I have cn on some websites which says they are providing 256 MB Memorystick with this piece. I would like to know weather I have been cheated or is this all we get with this piece? Because the price is not justified for just 64 MB of memory + 64 internal memory.. really sad that with such a wonderful camera I need to think twice to click a foto :(

Thank you guys. i took it to the service depot. They originally told me that it is software problem. After an hour they told me it is a hardware problem. They agreed to replace it. Replacement takes about 10days. with the lens cover opening, the lens will soon get enough dust covered or damaged. Thats the price for no fault of us. Wish sony ericsson comes out with a solution. Which seems unlikely.

Peterman,
While you do have a point with the lens cover, which has already been pointed out in at least one of the preview articles I read about the K800/K790, the issue with phone could be software related.
Try updating the firmware.
I would say if that doesn't work, try exchanging it, even if you don't get your money back, it could be an issue with this specific phone, so getting another K790 might fix it.
So far, every other review by individuals I have read, including company reviews, like GSMArena, hasn't brought up any kind of issue like this on the K800 and K790.

Been using the phone for 4 days. In that period it has hung about 8 to 10 times. It mostly hangs while using the camera. Its a bit slow on response too. Lense cover is fragile, in the sense if you store the phone in your pocket, very likely you will pull it out with the lense open. Poor design of the lense cover is what i put it at. Well if there is a way to get my money back, it would be great. Too much hype for this phone.

Thanks man - i believe anything i read. Point in case? now I believe you, not the old article able quad-band. Anyways, i live in ohio and rarely make it to europe (rarely = never ever). Thanks for the correction. :)

That first post appears to be right on the money.
But, your second part is probably wrong. That article was posted back in May. Now it is August, and since the K800 is already out, and isn't quad-band, I don't see why they would make the K790 quad-band. Plus, everywhere you look, even on SE website, it says this phone is tri-band (three different versions).

Only reason why I am not going for this phone is the joystick. I had one of my colleagues' mobile and it was just got for Singapore and within no time dust has started collecting under the joystick.

between 1 to 10 ... i put 9.5, because not only is taking pictures, but also filming is meanly. what a pity its video resolution is just QCIF =176 x 144.

bought the phone yesterday...for around 22000INR...really amazin ..must say one of my best buy for money since a long time..ive always bought just o2's or touchscreen phones..so its a level lower..but simply love it..the camera is just way too good for words..and so is the interface..battery life is excellent too..had no probs till now
