I don't want to upset anyone but I must state the obvious. Most of the glory goes to HTC. They built the phone. SE only branded it with their name. It was HTC who were brave enough to pioneer using Qualcomm's MSM7200 processor in mobiles which is the engine of this phone. The second accolade must go to Nokia. This Finnish company did so well in bringing all in one devices to everyone. Great cam, videoing, music and telephony in one device. If we tell ourselves the truth SE has always been STINGY with camcording. It was only with pressure from Nokia that they grudgingly implemented VGA at 30fps!!

@SE and Nokia fan
90% people here never going to buy this phone since 80% features of this phone are useless for many people other reason is that the phone going to be expensive so stop posting crap for the phone that you will never going to buy for one who says that N-series uses slow processor don't know that 369Mhz ARM11 with 220Mhz GPU is faster than 520Mhz CPU like what TOSHIBA G900 suffered from for its slow performance also Symbian don't required too much processing XPERIA X1 is not Nokia killers its HTC, APPLE iPHONE, O2, I-mate killer , the only phone which is comparable to this phone is Nokia E90. NOKIA N'series targeted towards young generation just like SE w'series do you think a business man going to snap photos from 5MP camera he have a time to listen music for hours does a businessman going to play N-gage games or record VGA-video no way the SE XPERIA X1 do have multimedia features as buisness man do like music, taking photos etc but very rarely also XPERIA X1 features like WVGA screen, touch screen with handwriting recognisation, GPS, WI-FI, document viewer and editor etc which are essential features for a business man so stop comparing two phones of different categories Nokia N96 is very nice multimedia phone where as SE XPERIA X1 is Amazing Business phone with lots of multimedia and business features there is only one word to descricbe XPERIA X1 "AMAZING"

at first glance, this phone looks like a typical PDA phone and an upgraded version of the P1i, with gps function and windows mobile os thrown in.
looks wise, it isnt the best looking phone but neither are the functions.
with so many 5 megapixels camera phones coming out on the market, people will wonder why this phone only has 3.15
this phone looks like it was made to compete with nokia's communicator series, however, this phone lacks the necessary RAM to beat nokia.
even the nokia n82 has a processing ram bigger than the communicator series, making it a much better phone.
so this phone isn't the best as what many has said.

well, i guess SE finally make a nice design phone and i am surprise, but they are still lack of spec compare to the Nokia Nseries. Nokia suck with battery life and SE suck in spec. If nokia and SE put there phone together it would become a SUPER PHONE and every fan would have clap there hand and make love to one another. But that not going to happen. Well my conclusion is that Nokia didn't learn about their battery life and SE didn't learn how to offer more to there phone. but i wish there were a nokia ericsson that come with a full blow. :)

I don't think people should expect this phone to be really fast especially not on release.If you think back to when the n95 was shipped it was painfully slow plus it had stacks of bugs,it took some 9months for Nokia to sort it out.Lets not forget the Xperia is sporting a WVGA screen something that nokia were frightened to incorporate on the n95 due to operation speed,power drain and price.

This is a new design phone. Don't compare to Nokia N96 which is a carry-on version of N95.

Many would choose this phone over the N96 because of Windows Mobile - there is more email exchange support (outlook) with Windows than Symbian. Also note that this phone is touchscreen which may appeal to more users than the N96. Furthermore, there is a full qwerty keyboard, again another pro for this phone.
Yes there isn't a lot of memory space over the phone, which music users may want more space. But remember, this phone is not targetted for music users: business users who want a highend phone, touchscreen fanatics, and highend users who are not very familiar with Windows.
And remember, this phone is 100% new and original. Nokia reused a design that was introduced in the N81.

Those saying there isn't enough memory on the X1, there is an expandable MicroSD slot. Please read the information before the unecessary criticizing. Sure 8GB does not beat Nokia's 16 GB, but that is a lot for a phone already.
Yes, part of the X1 is done by HTC, however, Sony Ericsson has designed the entierety of the product and adding new features that are not seen in any Windows Mobile device, such as the panel user interface.
There is also speculation on the X1 based ony Windows upcoming Mobile Operating System, Windows Mobile 6.1. Those talking about the presence of the Windows Mobile interface: Sony Ericsson and Microsoft have been working together.
The only flaw I see in the device I see is the lack of support of M2 Cards. But that, again, may change. There is at least half a year for Sony Ericsson to upgrade this device.
