AlexP, 17 Jul 2022"9 of them return it because of average camera quality... moresony is not even close to samsung. the galaxy s22 ultra takes photos with much better quality and detail, the 10x optical zoom is great either. believe me, i tried out the xperia 1 III in a shop, all three cameras (main, tele, ultra-wide) lack a lot of detail. an old galaxy j5 from 2015 takes better images than this phone. there are so many settings in the camera and video apps, it will take ages every time you want to take a photo to set the parameters right. other phones do it automatically, i am not going to set the camera every time i pull the phone out of my pocket to take a photo. the purpose of a camera phone is to be able to quickly take photos with quiet comparable quality to professional cameras. compared to my a7 III it is total crap. this phone was made for those who can't afford the real alpha cameras. created by alpha camera engineers they say... sony just assembled factory second parts that remained from production to sell its own phone.

Why they even keep 3.5mm jack & expandable storage option, so outdated.
Notification LEDs are old should be removed aswell.

With thick bezel like that Sony should have adopted 12MP (f/1.7) + 12MP (f/.2.2) front camera and it is sad that the phone don't have 2SIM + SD card slot.

RAM/STORAGE: Sony - 12gb/256gb(expandable)|Samsung - 8gb/128gb(nope) Base Models
DISPLAY: Sony - 4K Adaptive(full screen)|Samsung 1080p(huge dead pixel present)
JACK: Sony - 3.5mm jack(Check)|Samsung - (nope)
SOFTWARE: Sony - close to stock|Samsung - bloated as f but props to their fast updates
DESIGN/LOOK: Personal Preference
CAMERA: Personal Preference some like the natural photo taken on Sony while other like the oversaturated photo taken on Samsungs.
CUSTOM ROMS: Sony - no worries about knox & no firmware block|Samsung - have useless knox that if tripped can no longer be reverted & downgrading firmware is blocked once updgraded to the latest.
LASTLY THE VENERABLE NOTIFICATION LED:

Wrong statement. Sony camera is better than Samsung, apple has Sony cameras as well. So, do research before writing false information. Sony released update. Does anyone has has this Xperia 1 IV noticed any overheating fix?

Just to clarify that all phones are made in China, Sony manfactured it's consoles, headphones, TV's and xperia line in China. The name is trademark for a Japanese company and name is owned by a amercian company in california so technically no everything is made in China and even though I love Sony xperia line up they really gave up after XZ3 and withdrew ita global sales Australia, New Zealand, USA, Singapore etc big marketing countries sony gave up on, the design of Sony phones shows no body cares about who's buying the phone and what their doing wrong because their really doing a bad job only good thing they have done is kept wireless charging, fingerprint side button, ip rating, dynamic rumble, the only. Phone that I use now since Sony gave up on Australian market and its loyal customers is ROG phone. Long story short someone should fire their design team and management and restate its market international since Samsung and Apple phones are terrible with boring designs
