I own this phone and i would strongly recommend it, it might be chinese, but the quality and the specs are just awesome for the price. had it for over 4months and had no problems whatsoever, if you are in doubt , go for it! :)

They r thinking pure business, unlike other manufacturers
They spend on advertisements , products and keep making millions of units.
Where as these smart asses are making an affordable product , limited availability for the time being and ofcourse with all the kool specs of a top smartphone.
We just hav to wait for the time when mi-2 is out and seeling better than the first .
Only then we have a chance to c this 1st product globally, my xpectations are , mid Next year... till then we can either appreciate or taunt the way v r doing ryt now .

i got this phone 5 days ago ,as i live in china and i booked online from xiaomi website, phone is really very good, also price is very good, now i'm waiting for xiaomi m2 (RMB 1999), one i get it will post comments.

China was the greatest inventor of scince and technology in the world before 20th century such as invention of gun powder,rocket,compas,printer,papper,ships,umbrella,noodles(spaghetty) austronomycal science etc .Between 20 to 21th century western countries took ideas and mordanised them.But now those things are comming to its original place and progressing rappidly.That is good news.Keep on to progress Xiaomi and China.

The trouble with these type of fones is this,,
Sunlight ledgibility of screen,
Quality of speakers microphones and camera,
Video recording quality,
Battery life
and so on ,,its like Song,LG and HTC they use shoddy components sometimes and have quality allover the place..Apple,Nokia and Samsung are usually consistent and use decent quality components..That said the Huawei G300 for 100GBP on Vodafone UK was pretty good solid smartfone..So its what quality it is thats the problem..

And the fact that they are a MAJOR HIT in the Chinese market, which is one of the most competitive in the world due to availability of all international brands + the horde of cheap local brands must say something for quality and value. Have you gotten your hands on this gadget? I used to use a Samsung S2 and the S3. When I got the XIAOMI 1S, it is by far a superior phone to Samsung S3 which is why I ditched the other 2 and use only this. You should try it out.

Look at their knives, for example... years after years they were made from cheapest steel, and then SanRenMu appeared and made a high quality knife for a third of the price and everyone bought it. If they could do that with steel, they can do it with plastic too.
