AnonD-20221, 24 Sep 2011Exactly... Noone can even match the brand value of an iPhon... moreAh, and about the topic...

It's obvious that Apple comes first. It's the only option for people who want iOS.

The topic measures only brand value. Let's all remember that it does not allow one to assume that customers are jumping ship (actually, market share shows the opposite). To measure that, one should measure intents based on OS, not on manufacturer.

Let's not confuse "choice" with "disappointment". One can consider various different brands and still be perfectly happy with Android. Obviously, that is what generally happens with Android users. You don't consider only a "Galaxy" device, for example.

People need to think more and troll less.

AnonD-20221, 24 Sep 2011Exactly... Noone can even match the brand value of an iPhon... moreAs an Evo 4g (traded my iPhone for fast data) and Mac user owner myself, that comment makes no sense.

You should not stay on a lesser developed field (let's admit that for the argument) just to feel "safe" because nobody has better stuff than you.

Only kids and teens (actually, my son is one and understand that, so...) and people with severe attention disorder needs to stay better than everyone else on such frivolous things as phones.

So... you're saying that between 2 fields, one having extremely better specs coming out everyday, and one having stagnated specs, I should stay into the last because nobody will ever be better than me?

Sorry, I prefer to enjoy the continous and impressive progress development on the first field.

Of course, I'm not implying that Android and iOS are each of those fields, I'm just demonstrating how that ridiculous argument by a few iOS users makes us all feel like whatever people call us.

AnonD-9023, 23 Sep 2011Actually there is a funny thing to say about android and iO... moreExactly... Noone can even match the brand value of an iPhone.. You buy a S 2 now and after a few months a more powerful phone( in terms of specs) come out and the existing owners are left to lamment.. Also you have to wait a lot to even take full advantage of its powerful specs.. Whereas iPhone users do not need to think of such things, let alone face them...

And i'm going after that "something better". I'm happy for the guys here who have found happiness w/ the iPhone. As for me, I still cant make any decisions. iOS, Android, BB OS, Symbian, Bada, WP7, Meego... they are all prospects.

Anonymous, 24 Sep 2011I think iPhone is the "IN" phone nowadays. Or a s... more"or what the processor is, you would see a confused look in their faces. They usually dont give a damn."

Exactly even apple own iphone spec site doesn't tell that. You begin thinking things like that when you see something works slowly or take's long time load etc. But when everything works fast and smooth, including everything in appstore you don't need to think that kind of stuff. you just use it and everything is perfectly smooth everytime :) That's the beauty of iPhone.

For example say nokia phone, you see laggy browser or game and immediately you start thinking how fast processor it has and then you look and noticed it's not that good then you want more speed.

You don't have that situation with iPhone so you don't need to care which processor it has, that's why specs aren't that important with iPhone. you only know if you buy iPhone 5 everything is going to run perfectly smooth before iPhone 6 comes, that might or might not chance that. With iPhone 4 it didn't 3gs still running almost every newest games perfectly smooth which was big suprrise for me.

I think iPhone is the "IN" phone nowadays. Or a status symbol perphaps. If you will be asking MOST of the people why they purchased an iphone, they would say "because it looks beautiful" or "almost everyone has it". But if you begin to talk about what iOS is or what the processor is, you would see a confused look in their faces. They usually dont give a damn. I should know, because I work in a telco company.

These are my 1st comment and reason is that more than 90% users here dont understand OS basics.
A heavier (resource demanding OS) will perform slow even on high specs hardware. i.e. run windows 2000 server and win7 on same hardware and match performance..
So user experience (response time) of Android on 1.5Ghz dual core is identical to 1Ghz IOS and 680Mhz Symbion. So Nokia dont need dual core processors and Giga RAM's for current Symbian and WP7 platforms.

iPhone gets all the best apps first, and usually very cheaply. It's OS is easily the most user friendly as well.

It's never all about specs. The HTC Hero and Desire sold loads, but weren't as powerful as the likes of the Galaxy.

Can't say. Could this study be biased or misleading? Like, 89% owners from a specfic country and not the world?

Apple's OS and products have so many flaws... Is it the iPod magic on the iPhones that's working?
I have seen better phones from rivals like Samsung, Sony Ericsson, etc. Not Nokia though.

Just recently, I tested the Samsung Galaxy SII... Now tell me, why would I chose an puny iPhone over this monster performance phone??

And I myself own a N8, so I'm not biased towards a manufacturer...

The next question is what's going to happen to current iPhone4s in use right now. How many will be shelved, how many will be kept ticking as second hand or reburbished, or again as the 2nd sim card holder big communicators like to have handy. How will this impact the rest of the market of brand new phone? Is this the new territory of phoneless net friendly subscription's contrats the operators are bound to offer ?

Perhaps Nokia or Android OEMs can beat iPhone in terms of specs but they can't beat the value of an iPhone .

Apple Using only 2 models and fighting vs 300+ models . Is that a win ? perhaps not.
Apple is the most valuable company on this planet but only 30% of their profits come from iPhone .

What is second hand value of iphone 4 vs second hand value of Galaxy S1 (not s2) . Simple answer is i can get galaxy s1 brand new for second hand price of iphone 4 .

even if android phones beat iPhone for features or specs ..... iPhones maintain their eye-popping royalty.

whether u have 100 apps or 100000 apps , people buy more on appstore rather than marketplace. so developers also always release any application first on iOS (more than 90% of apps) because if they release on android , people don't buy them as much as people buy on iOS , so they make delayed updates too for existing apps . they wait for 4-5 months and make ad-versions of same apps into android and then on movies or tv shows they show eye-popping iPhone , android users get jealous and make hate comments everywhere.

my point is whether android phone beat iPhone or not , they don't beat the royalty and brand-value of iPhone. good example is accessories , many accessories work with iPhone and there are tonnes of accessories made exclusively of iphone and music systems or gadgets compatible to iphone/iOS. so accessories too make iPhone special . i have seen people changing back covers and putting fancy covers .
putting their phone in their music dock etc etc . but android phones ? simple answer is a NO because every month a new phone comes out so no-3rd party company makes accessories as compared to iPhone .

U buy a phone today and after 6 months or so its price comes down to like 3/5th price ? and OEMs give slow updates because they ignore old phones .

So accept it or not , android crumbles after a period of time just like iOS . iOS was very cool back in 2009 or 2008 but now it looks/works cool but not as cool as before .

One basic thing android phones can't do is backup .
even though i dont like itunes i like itunes backup.
i have seen people using android devices and when a new update comes they make a mess for backup by installing 3rd party apps and stuff . but itunes updates , restoring is very simple comparing other phones. infact itunes runs far better than samsung kies software in terms of every aspect.
only thing to boast about android phones is sd-card-slot or removable battery. even though flash is there on android phones , u cant surf roll-overs pretty well most of the sites. try to scroll inside through comment box up and down ? difficult on any phone . so flash doesnt solve everything.
