That is absolutely fantastic news. Put a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on top and you have a Display as durable as old-School LCD. This hopefully means no more green-striped OLED Displays.

So they claim to have developed a plastic cover material that has a lot of similar properties of the glass, yet is unbreakable at the same time.

Personally, I'm curious to see how this works out. If the plastic really is as hard as glass, this could be great for future phones. If not, I don't see this happening.
I'd rather have an unscratchable screen than an unbreakable one. I haven't broken a single smartphone in all these years, but somehow all of them have ended up with micro-scratches. So if the plastic isn't hard enough, I expect a lot more scratches.

Considering that most of the people I know owning a Samsung flagship have a broken display, and considering that a display change costs about 50% of that phone's price, Samsung will go bankrupt in 2 years if they decide to use this kind of display on their high-end flagships.

You may not shatter it, but plastic will get scratched by just looking at it from wrong angle. And to avoid that, you need to put glass on it. Which kinda defeats the point of it then...
Besides, plastic feels cheap. I want glass. One may argue it's meant to make repair cheaper since you'd just be replacing front glass and not actual display, but new glass and professional installation by service center and I doubt it'll only cost 20€...

So you beat plastic with a hammer but it doesn't get any dent or scratch? Samsung clearly uses a space grade plastic capable of handling hammers, radiation and adamantium claws to be x-men worthy.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't LG's pOLED made the same way with a plastic window?

It's clearly a s9+ or note 8 display in the middle, and i think the left one is for galaxy S10 because the display have very small bazels

So samsung just need to make a phone where you have somewhere to put your fingers without accidently pressing the screen and make it more grippy then i dont have to buy a case everytime. I hate the bars of soaps they keep making slides literally everywhere.
