As I said, I've handled many of the Sony phones myself, played around with them, put it in my pocket, fiddled with the UI & settings, etc. They aren't all bad, but I think many of the negative comments are totally justified especially considering their price. Its the products themselves and how they're priced that justifiably turns many people off. Its not just bad marketing.

I've handled man... moreWell many also said that they're Ok and these little mistakes you see can be looked over but the phones are good and many also have loved it and the only thing your see is marketing because marketing is what makes people think what the companies want and those companies stand for what they want. Sony doesn't market and that why you see a lot of people don't chanting for it because people are not influenced by Sony.
The other companies are marketing and that what makes them want the notch and people accept it as they look brainwashed and no brand loses.
So Sony's problem is marketing.

Level 5 is waterresistant
Level 8 is waterproof
XZ2 is IP65 certified and tested, but not certified, against IP68. Specifications says: You should not put the device completely underwater.
Obviously you are not an expert and not even tech geek. You can only read marketing papers.

I've handled many Sony phones in my hands including recent ones such as XZ2 & XZ2C. I think many of the complaints you see in these forums are valid (but I would also disagree with some of them). At the end of the day, people vote with their wallets.

(1... moreTo be honest, I value the comfort of using the phone over the numbers you care so much about. People whine about the thickness of XZ2C, but in reality it fits a palm better than any phone in the last five years.
Sony's problem is that most people don't care about comfort, they care about the marketing gimmicks. They don't want a phone that is comfortable to use and has great battery life, they want a phone that is slim and trendy.
As soon as Sony betray the users and start producing generic garbage that everyone wants and no one needs their sales will grow. But it will be sad news for people like me because it will mean that all the phones will become equally bad. None will be created with actual users in mind anymore.

At first people were complaining things about Sony didn't had and after Sony fixed a lot of things, they're bashing it even some of their fans which I find strange.
Sony is a great company who deserves to be the #1 in the world and to me they're and no company can match what can do. If people are stopping to criticise Sony and look what it has and what they're doing, they would have loved it, instead, they're being superficial and shallow.
Sony is problem is marketing and nothing else.

In family we have a lot of phones, yes rotten fruit included and SONY is the most stable among all of them
SONY major problem is in marketing and only marketing, over 90% of those bashing did not gave themselves a chance to go and try the products, as if they are brainless or brain washed
Neither any of the new most bashed XZ2 series felt bulky at all, yes its width is more than usual but just in the middle but when you hold any of them with your hands you will never feel it, because the sides as very slim maybe 0.6 or less, and your hand will feel a quality never been felt in any other phone including Sony's own previous phones, even the weight is different in hand from any other phone, you will actually use to it, we are talking about grams not kilos
So everyone must really try anything before bashing it
From my view Sony's main problem is the Marketing and only it

Not surprising because Sony is run by the wrong people.
(1) Designers and engineers which have no idea how to properly design their phones. People want slim and light phones with bigger screen to body ratio, and phones with OIS. Instead, their designers and engineers must be still on amateur hour and instead release thicc and phat phones with mediocre Screen to body ratio and still without OIS.
(2) Management which refuses to do proper marketing of their phone and still refuses to price their phones properly. They still have their head stuck in their a$$, thinking that its the 2000s where they are ahead and can charge obscene amounts of money for their phones, when in reality many other brands can offer the "same for less price", "more for the same price", or even "more for less price".
