Sony mobile only sold 2M phone yet still makes profit, while LG sold 7M phone but post a loss. Why?

Bcz there is no RD and small marketing for sony Mobile. All tech are the shared tech from other healhty sony, camera from sony semiconductor division, screen tech from tv division, sound from audio division..

Sony just need to work on advertising their products, people can pick faults in all brands, Samsung phone can literally catch fire, and people will still line up to buy the next version because Samsung and apple are much better at advertising

That's what happens when you ship rubbish camera's, drop the 3.5mm headphone jack and move the fingerprint sensor to the back where nobody wants it.

I really hope Sony take note and get back in the mobile game, it would be a shame to see them go the same way as HTC.

First and foremost, get the headphone jack back.

Otherwise I won't fully trust them again.

disclaimer: I've been buying Bluetooth headphones since 2013 and still need 3.5mm jack

Maybe if they didn't make the thickest smartphone in the market, and call it a "Compact". Plus didn't even fit a headphone jack in it smh, and charge $1000.

Anonymous, 31 Jul 2018Not surprising, the XA2 looks worse than the XA1Well , XA2 family design change was almost similar approach when we saw Xperia S and Iconic Identity design from 6 years ago while retaining Xperia XZ-based design , infinite loop top and bottom (XA2 was more curvier on the loop ,while S is more boxier) , camera in the very top middle , headphone jack on the top , a quite curvature back (yes , even Xperia S itself has a curvature back) , so it probably doing something with homage [XZ2 is even more , with approaching Sony Ericsson Xperia days design , Arc S , Neo V to be exact] . While XA1 family was basically XZ-based design with some taken elements from OmniBalance Z series .

I was looking forward to the new phones, until they removed the 3.5mm jack.

Sony, don't have anything to differentiate. Why not add DAB radio to their smartphones? Or a stylus etc...

sony phone still is a good phone

For once I agree with Tanner Hauser. This new design language was neither needed nor asked for.

The old Sony design (whilst not industry leading like some might claim) was functional enough and it was distinctive, it held the interest of a small but loyal fan base.

The new design has alienated many of those fans whilst failing to win over new ones.

As an example the XZ2P is too big (for its screen size), too heavy, omits (for no good reason at all) a headphone socket, has a terribly un-ergonomic fingerprint scanner placement, and yes is too expensive

Sorry Sony, you have dropped the XZ2P shaped ball right onto your own foot!

it's a shame, they were moving gradually in a positive direction up until the XZ2 range I thought.

I think 3.5 mm, camera improvement, reasonable price and some advertising might help sony.

Practically zero advertising from what I have seen, along with getting rid of the headphone jack, I'm not sure what Sony was expecting. But we saw this coming from a mile away.
