Nowadays, iPhones are for show-offs, which treat it like a symbol of status, not for what it's meant to be (e.g. communication device). But, to be fair, Apple is not by any means the only one upping the prices of phones. Samsung and Huawei are doing it, too.

Even the last year's Note 8 will outperform any iPhone if you think about the versatile/productive use of it. And for the speed, i think the SD710 is fast enough for anything you through at it (only my opinion).

But I am sure even with number of units down, Apple makes a heavy profit? However, the major appeal of an iPhone is the software and people who are tied into the eco system. Hardware, battery, durability are rather poor. At these prices, quite a lot of people are going to consider getting out of their eco system and go for something cheaper, the moment their existing iphones die. That's when their profit margins will hit. When their profits go down and not merely number of units, will Apple really innovate.

Isn’t it all the companies this year?
They are struggling.
I mean why upgrade from an s8 to an s9 or note?
Or why should I replace my blazingly fast (especially now on ios12) iphone 7 plus with an iphone xs? I might in a year. But not now.
Not convinced with Huawei. Maybe I’m a brand snob but I am not willing to pay samsung note or apple prices for a Huawei.

I dont think oneplus deserves to be mocked on quality,but i honestly dont like oneplus 6t

See SD835 and SD845. Basically the same SoC yet people bought it because they saw the bigger number. It is so sad what fandroids are being force fed these days.

I bought an iPhone 8 pre-owned on Apple website recently! The reason behind? Simple... Apple is ridiculously increasing their price each and every year and sad to say its insanely overpriced. Imagine a phone with a single camera and additionally 3D touch were extinguished with a price tag of $750 excluding tax...

Samsung makes majority of its phones in India itself, in that way it got liberty to price its models quite competitively. Samsung’s high end Note9 costs 10k less than Apple’s cheapest iPhone XR. Apple, just manufactures outdated 6s in India!

No wonder, you don't exactly get the most rich phone out there, altough the price tells you otherwise. Plus with iOS12 on older devices working like a charm, nobody of the iPhone user circle with older phones is willing to upgrade. No fingerprint sensor, no 3.5mm headphone jack etc. My iPhone 6 with iOS12 is so smooth again.
