I bet 3 cookies that this is fake.

Unless the GB scaling would have changed, this should score around 10,600.

If this has a headphone jack and the tall design isn't super unwieldy it may tempt me away from my note 9 sooner!

AnonD-558092, 03 Jan 2019Why people congratulate Sony? As far as I know, this chip w... moreProbably GSMA Sony fans wanted to yearn that glory that Sony never had for a while and oh boy, the Sony hype is real despite the credit belonged to Qualcomm for waking up.

Besides, Sony is another king of Optimization due to near Stock Android and in the past, their Premium lineup served as a benchmark to demolish Apple flagships from time time.

So I did an experiment to prove that GB is not a proper benchmark.

Firstly, anyone who compares results from two different OS/platform - don't do it. GB runs on any platform but was not created equally across all platforms.

Secondly, anyone who thinks Apple A12 is faster than recent AMD or Intel processor should slap his face and wake up - you are delusional. It will take mores years for Apple or ARM-based SoC to catch up with AMD or Intel processor in sheer performance.

Lastly, I ran GB on my Windows machine with Ryzen 2700 @ 4GHz (all cores)
                - I opened three instances of GB
                - I set the the first 8 threads to the 1st GB instance
                - I set the the last 8 threads to the 2nd GB instance
                - I set all threads to the 3rd GB instance
                - I ran the 3rd instance first and gather the result (see below)
                - After then 3rd instance is finished, I ran both 1st and 2nd GB instances at the same time

                Here are the results:

                1st GB instance = 4693/17008 - https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/11506698
                2nd GB instance = 4690/16947 - https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/11506699
                3rd GB instance = 4680/26728 - https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/11506662
                3rd GB instance (re-run) = 4675/27035 - https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/11506865

Technically if GB was properly coded, Ryzen 2700 at 4GHz should give us approximately 4690/34000 scores not 4680/27000. I've searched the GB uploads and majority of the Ryzen 2700 scores were below 30K in multi-core.

I am sure if I split this into 4 instances and add the results, multi-core results will be around 40K

Curious, 03 Jan 2019I think he meant it in an ironic sort of way. Is that how... moreBecause they wanted an incremental increase. I don't know what baseline Geekbench 1 used, but I know 2 used a baseline of 1000 points, Geekbench 3 took an I5-2500U with 2500 points baseline.
And 4 uses 4000. Why these SoCs specifically? I guess it's just to have an easy assessment and baseline...

Now, the balance of phone technologies has been returned.

Apple will only dominate Single-Core performance while Android flagship chips will only dominate Multi-Core performance.

if all thing about xz4 are true it's good because late is better than never!

I believe that the priced that will tag onto this phone will not be value for money. As a Sony fan, I am quite disappointed with their product & quality as competitors will always be 3 steps ahead. Samsung and Huawei for example, you can see all the models that they've launched throughout a year and on top, they actually provide Android updates to their previous devices, compared to Sony, and this really encourage me to go for other brand.
I would strongly recommend OnePlus, Samsung, Huawei or Honor for quality product at reasonable price.
