They better reverse this since the way I see it Google just gave Samsung a monopoly in the Android market, I am sure the EU who already have issues with Google may decide to blacklist all of Google from all Androids within the EU sector. That would indeed balance things tough I am not sure it would be healthy for Google to be blocked out in China & the Union... OwO

Yeah, this will end just like the ZTE conundrum

Anonymous, 21 May 2019When you stay in other people's house, you have to obey the... moreUS constitution bends on democracy and competition. That's why US still does not ban some rifles for minors despite school shootings because 'it is our right to have rifles'. I get that 'my house, my rules' but if a US court is unbiased, then FBI/CIA must provide first hard evidence regarding Huawei's misconduct before putting the ban in place. Otherwise, the ban decision will only be seen as anti-competition. And that's not a very good indication for other foreign companies investing in the US. The hunger for capitalism and the US constitution are the two things protecting foreign companies from being discriminated at in the US, slap an unconstitutional decision and you take away the confidence of other foreign companies.
Your analogies regarding neighbors is wrong. This is more like neighbor one allows neighbor two to make business on neighbor one's property, but with contract (contract : constitution). It states in the contract that neighbor two will be kicked out if proven a threat to neighbor one in the court. If neighbor two is kicked out without being heard first using the contract (courtroom), then why would neighbor three do business with neighbor one when the contracts don't protect them?

and in the end, they are going to pay trump to left the band and this would be over. Huawei is ruling and America can't do anything about it.

Let me put it this way: let's say Apple sold 15 million XS Max units. They are making about $400 profit from each one (actually more outside USA). That's about 6 billion in profit. If they are forced to lose 3-4 billion in relocation costs and halted production, then these 3-4 billion bucks won't be a loss Apple will assume even though they can afford it. No, now you have iphones that cost $250 more to the average consumer. After that this very same average consumer goes to Costco or whatever retail store you see fit and buys a pair of Nike shoes, a shirt and some pants and pays 100 bucks more than it cost him/her last month. And the same thing repeat with whatever else he/she buys. How long do you thing the US consumers will be fine with that?

And about the big retailers, I'm sorry but you feeling that people aren't shopping that much in Walmart doesn't change the fact that Walmart is still the biggest US retailer according to all sales reports followed by Amazon, Kroger, Costco, Home Depot, Best Buy etc. Like I said id doesn't matter which one we're talking about, all will be raising the prices. Unless Apple decide to give up the market in China (which is not quite likely at the moment), I don't think Apple will totally retreat from China, yet it will still cause some problem as it is not what President Trump hoped, IMO.

It doesn't matter how much it costs to Apple to transport it to you local store or to package it or whatever. Any amount that they'll have to pay above what they're currently paying will be added to the retail price. The same goes for most of the other companies. I quote the footwear companies's letter to trump: "... would mean some working American families could pay a nearly 100 percent duty on their shoes. This is unfathomable." More than 100 companies have signed this. They aren't going to carry the load of the trade war, the consumers are. And footwear is just a drop in the ocean. The trade war will affect the US companies in all industries and most of all the consumers.

Stop living in a dream where all the US companies unite and start selling cheap high quality products like a 100 years ago.
