Anonymous, 21 May 2019Time for the world to start banning the US/start breaking f... moreI agree. This free market muzzling has got to stop. US companies need a ban across many justisdictions of the world. If the US believes this is acceptable, it isn't.

While I don't want to comment on Huawei's apparent back door policies (since the US has not been able to prove anything, and has also not disclosed anything substantial regarding its allegations), google and Android's future seem more suspect, when it must randomly deplatform a smartphone maker, when the smartphone maker sells more than any US smartphone company, makes it's own SoC, has the best camera on any smartphone and is poised to beat US software and hardware giants from silicon valley.

The question then becomes, "Is any Smartphone company in the Android ecosystem safe", and "Do we need a more mature alternative to Android where smartphone companies are not randomly or erratically locked out, because the US wants to indulge in protectionism and unfair trade practices?"

What about Samsung? They tried to falsely jail its CEO much like the Arab Springs press propaganda. Will Samsung be de-Platformed if it starts beating iPhone in revenue? What about Xiaomi or OnePlus or other smartphone companies?

Andtoid has shown itself to be immature and irresponsible and unable to have created a level-plating field.

the wrongdoing being alleged of huawei has nothing to do with their smartphone business- it is with their networking equipments. it's a bad thing that their smartphone business had to take the brunt, and it is only natural that people percieve this whole thing as if it has to do with its smartphones and its newfound brilliance in sales. in researching about this espionage allegations against huawei, i have not come across suspicion of its mobile arm being involved. although it still is a possibility because the hardware for the alleged chinese backdoor on huawei networking equipments can fit into an innocent-looking micro IC. in the end, the consumer is the biggest loser because huawei has been in the forefront of smartphone technologies and network devices in the last 2 years at least.

This arrogant liar of a company deserves to be put down.

Let me tell you - what the US gov't did is legally skewed. Unless US government releases to the public courtroom hard evidence regarding Huawei's 'misconduct', the US legal court will overturn this ban - because it will be seen that the move is only to limit the competition against Huawei.

this is the difference between Huawei and Apple. Apple own their own OS. It doesn't matter if Huawei sells more phones. As long as they don't own their OS, they are not bigger than Apple. The same goes for Samsung.
