0.4 inches less does not make it compact. And the naming scheme is ridiculous.

          Aaaaaa... I could scream now.
I was reading this article and thinking that it could be my next phone...ok design, nice screen, great sound (at least at paper), Sony's camera....and then, at final ruined by low capacity battery.
6,1' screen and just 3200mAh battery.
F* you Sony...I really couldn't care less if your phone business completely dies.

            6.1" = compact ;)

I remember when I bought LG G2 with 5.5" screen my mate(iphone 4 user at the time) said he thought I had a"portable TV or something".
            ;D

Qimchi, 05 Sep 20195 replaces the XZ2 compact. Ignore the 6.1" screen since it... moreThe width does not matter. It cannot replace XZ2c.
Only the screen has 14,2 cm height.
14,2cm is the size of whole XA2.

I wish they had made a 13,5 cm tall version.
But sadly the 21:9 screen would made it be less than 6cm wide.
Too hard to type in any mode.

There was rumor of a Compact as small as iphone SE.

They could just leave the jack there and let costumer decide to choose between wired or wireless, maybe even have both.

Unlike other brands lie, removing the jack does not improve IP rating not make phone thinner. Z3+ and S6 both are less than 7 mm with jack.

This is the most interesting Sony phone in a few years. It will probably be priced too high to do any significant sales numbers.

Xperia 5's competitor is the Galaxy Note 10. Not plus variant.

Sam, 05 Sep 2019158 x 68 x 8.2 mm.... with 3.140 mAh, 21:9.... Worse displ... moreIt IS compact? 68mm is about the same as the Pixel 3a. With such a small screen would you really need 4K especially on a phone? This phone is just a taller and spec updated version of the XZ2 compact. If you make that 5.0" 16:9 screen and make it taller with the aspect ratio of 21:9 you get 6.1".

Mario, 05 Sep 2019Why sony always pack the small pack battery???A small Sony battery is comparable to most 4000mah phones. They have Qnovo to do that.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2019Xperia 1 replaces XZ2 Premium. Xperia 5 replaces XZ2 / XZ3... more5 replaces the XZ2 compact. Ignore the 6.1" screen since its actually equivalent to a 21:9 version of the 5.0" 16:9. Now we measure the size of the phone by width. The XZ2 compact had a width of 65mm. This phone would have a width of ~63mm. Since its ultrawide at 21:9 the screen is taller mkaing it 6.1".

But when I say Sony, I meant the heads are the one who say that they did it because they're doing it. But to listen to the vocal minority of people was disappointing. The silent majority want it there as an available option to use. Sure they don't use it but they don't have to remove it better yet, they didn't ask for it.

Cytus and Osu! are popular sound based games that really needs hand, eye and ear coordination and delay/latency from Wireless headphones is a universal bane for these games.
