Sony publishes full year report, PlayStation is doing great, profits from Xperia phones improving

Both gaining profits and Xperia are the words where haters really want separate both with a very large gorge. It's seems they failed, at least this time and have zipped their wordings knowing this condition of Sony's full report year. Hopefully Sony knows and able to continue their niche market approach and people, keeping the community and the phone itself solid, while also making profits at the same time.

You can increasing the price of the flagship phone for only so much. If you price your product too high, people will stop buying. In order to grow sustainably, you have to increase the unit sales.

Xperia L4 (from 2020) (Entry level model. Still no successor for 2021)

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2021Sony makes micro sd cards. Onviously they are not as fast... more.."advanced manufacturing process" made on Kateeva or Canon Tokki machines (OLED) and ASML, Nikon or Canon photolithography machines (semicoductors). But yes you right, they have, a little faster microSD.

this is good to hear...
just enough to continue for a couple of years...
somehow, whatever they do is working...
will surely support xperia as long as they provide my needs and wants...
room for improvement is still there - perhaps a quad dac next iteration?
now that lg left that spot, somehow asus have one on rog 5, it would be great if zenfone 8 will have it too aside from the next xperia (that would complete the audio experience for both actual hires audio formats and upscaling the compressed ones)... if ever...
cant think of any improvement on display, perhaps, brightness (though not that bad on 1ii, and might deteriorate faster, hopefully sony finds ways to have brightness to most people liking at the same time prolong its life)
and when time comes for me to upgrade (perhaps 1v or 1iv) i hope they still follow the design language, no more experiments like the xz2 xz3 series...

Really happy to hear that they (Mobile div.) are on the path to recovery🤞🏻
Hopefully their profits & sales increase further in '21 since both the 1 & 5 III which are awesome smartphones would be available by Q2 I suppose

Very good news overall, Sony is strong and very well as a whole, the Mobile division overcame all the adversities and shrunk to restructure and now they can grow again. The most important point is that they are profitable now and with cash flow there is more investment on R&D. We can already see it on the Xperia 1 and 5 Mark III. They are packed with technologies that competitors don't have yet (4K, high refresh @120 plus motion blur at 240, 360 reality audio built in). Again I see Sony doing interesting things and offering features that matter (SD card, Headphone Jack) and not going with the Chinese trend (more mp, more ram) they compete with more useless technology, Sony creates new technology.

Onviously they are not as fast as Samsung's, because Samsung has much more advanced manufacturing process for these kinds of stuff.

Sony was losing much more money even when they sold 39 million devices per year. Like 2013 and 2014.
No need to have more than 3-4 phones per year.
Motorola was much better when they had E, G and X only.
