Early MediaTek Dimensity 9200 test on AnTuTu shows an impressive generational improvement

26 October 2022
The Dimensity 9000 was the first to post a score of 1 million points, the 9200 will surpass it with a Cortex-X3 CPU core and Immortalis-G715 GPU.

The question that matters is whether the SoC will be thermal-efficient. Qualcomm got it wrong with the 888, 888+, and 8 Gen 1. 8+ Gen 1 kinda fix it, but it's still persistent under continuous heavy use.

Most Chinese firms are banned or have sanctions in place with doing business in USA or using American technologies.

In the UK we have been using Huawei telecoms infrastructure for about 30 years with no actual evidence of data stealing or threat to the nation or its security, it was only when donald trump sanctioned against Huawei that borris Johnson sanctioned against them. (going to cost billions to replace everything and put us behind by years in infrastructure and tech aswell)

I guess entire world made it up to attack poor Huawei that didn't do nuffin wrong. Then how come no other Chinese company has been sanctioned? Or even alleged to do any kind of spying? Give me a break. And it wasn't even just USA. Several countries in EU also spotted weird things with Huawei and how they are doing "business".

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2022You're wrong as consoles don't use standard OpenG... more1. suggest using synthetic benchmarks in phone is not wise, we have trillion ways of OEM bypassing benchmarks, we all know they are not 100% reliable, oem or mtk themselves can add few line of codes just to bypass certain benchmarks hence it doesnt reflect real life usage

        2. Mali OpenGl drivers are broken not my words but i have read it dozens of times from reputable developers with decades of experience, nowadays we can follow closely development of switch Emulator (skyline) and same problems which occur in dolphin, citra and Aethersx2 are occuring in skyline? coincidence? maybe these developers dont know anything you can teach them how Mali opengl and vulkan support is ok.

        3. this is not emulator issue its driver issue, because it affect even other apps MAli gpu have fewer Apis and developer tools compare to Adreno one.

        4. to prove more these are driver issues, Tegra for few years had better perfomance (even with old cortex A57 cores) and people managed to play Dolphin in their shield, it was until 2017 with cortex A73 and adreno 620 snapdragon managed to catch up, this is because

so you can run around but the truth multi billion dollars companies they dont care to provide even decent drivers to Mali and they are happy someone like you who am sure you know truth but you decide to defend them.

Hemedans, 26 Oct 2022Vulkan is still unstable, plenty of games using opengl, eve... moreYou're wrong as consoles don't use standard OpenGL(ES). Emulators use OpenGL at the end of the chain...check the other links before making any conclusion

Your mistake is thinking emulator's performances are only related to how your soc supports OpenGL.
              That means absolutely nothing!
But you continue spreading the same mistake on each topic about Mediatek...
You simply don't understand what is emulation!
Get some (more or less) true framerates on emulators and make a false conclusion about OpenGL support!

If you want to test OpenGL, use 3DMark or GFXBench! These benchmarks use standard API. Your framerates are ok on Mali. Conclusion : the missing link isn't OpenGL
              Consoles don't use standard API!
Consoles use propriatary API with some low level tweaks related to specific hardware.
Problem is to translate the propriatary API and all the tweaks to a standard API such as OpenGL or Vulkan known by your system.
              That's what emulation means.
Propriatary API -> Emulator -> OpenGL (or Vulkan)
As consoles run fine, Propriatary API isn't the problem.
As benchmarks and native Android games run fine, true OpenGL (or Vulkan) isn't the problem.
Make the only possible conclusion! Problem is Emulator.
As most developers use Snapdragon based devices to develop and test, it's not a surprise if translation works better on Snapdragon based devices. Simple to understand!
Even if Mali's support evolved fastly these 2 or 3 last years.

You can have a perfect OpenGL support on your soc, if your emulator's translation is bad, you will get horrible framerate or even bugs.
Sometime, some games can run fine because all tweaks aren't used...and some others can be horrible if a single tweaks was badly emulate!

Or sometime you can multiply your framerate by 3 on some games, simple by changing your emulator's version (standard, MMJ, MMJr). Emulators versions don't modify OpenGL or Vulkan API. They're in your system! Emulators versions modify translation, nothing more.

dude111, 26 Oct 2022Seems like CPU score is basically the same as current 9000,... moreRumors A710 and A510 would still be there so 5 to 6 core will be the same, A715 isnt much upgrade either. So probably majority of perfomance come from Cortex X3.

Seems like CPU score is basically the same as current 9000, and only GPU and Memory (that means actually nothing but higher BW) have significant improvements.

This could also mean that GB scores from the S23 ultra in the 4,500 land are what we would expect here too.

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2022huh opengl game? helooo today game all using vulkan or rtx thingVulkan is still unstable, plenty of games using opengl, even with Vulkan 3rd party drivers like Adreno Tools and Turnip can be added in soc which use Adreno gpu. This rootless driver can be used to boost individual app or games. The reason nowadays lot of pc games are playable in Snapdragon based Android phones is because of turnip.

I can't believe people still spread and believ this BS that Huawei was unjustly banned. They were literally caught spying on other companies and countries, backdoors were found in their 5G equipment. It's what got them banned, not their success. How come Xiaomi isn't banned and they are huge Chinese company.

Shhh. But having to order it, put it in the phone, desgin the phone, etc, to use it, bumps up the price, without it they probably could cut the price of a phone by 10-ish dollars which is better then having a useless sensor.
