Weekly deals: the best smartphone deals from Amazon in Germany, the US, the UK and India

Peter, 04 December 2022

The Black Friday craziness is behind us, so now we can go back to regular browsing for deals – it never hurts to have a look, even if it’s not a major shopping holiday. Here are the best deals from Amazon we picked out for Germany, the US, the UK and India.

Germany Germany

Apple rarely offers discounts, especially on current models. However, you can save a few euro by going through a different retailer. For example, a 128GB iPhone 14 Plus goes for €1,080 on Amazon Germany, if you pick up the black one. On Apple.com that same unit will cost you €1,150. If you go for a 512GB in Blue you can save even more – Amazon will charge you €1,333, Apple will ask for €1,540 instead.

You can get 5% off the smaller iPhone 14 as well – the 128GB model is €45 cheaper on Amazon than it is from Apple itself. The 256GB model is €71 cheaper than from the official store.

Carl Pei may be a fan of Apple, but he would rather you get the Nothing Phone (1) instead. Like with the iPhones, Amazon Germany charges a lower price than the official store - €450 for an 8/256GB unit. If you check on nothing.tech you will see that even the 8/128GB version is slightly pricier, €470.

The Realme GT2 Pro is a flagship from the beginning of the year, which means a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Still, a 6.7” QHD+ 120Hz LTPO2 AMOLED display, plus a pair of 50MP cameras and a 5,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging can be yours for just €100 more than the Nothing phone.

USA USA

The Sony Xperia 5 IV is a fairly unique phone, but in typical Sony fashion it costs a bit more than many are willing to spend. A $200 discount on the original $1,000 price does make it more palatable and more competitive with the Galaxys of the world.

Speaking of, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is down to $900 for the base 8/128GB model. The Ultra is on the other side of the size spectrum, however, but it has better telephoto cameras than the Xperia 5 (which lacks Xperia 1 IV’s variable tele lens) and support for a stylus, if you’re into that kind of thing.

You can accessorize the Ultra with the Galaxy Watch5 Pro Golf Edition. The difference from the regular version is the dual tone band and some pre-loaded features to help you on the greens.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 also has a Golf Edition. Currently, both the regular and Golf Edition cost the same, $260, for a Bluetooth model. You can have the regular version with LTE connectivity for $290.

The Motorola Edge+ (2022), aka Edge 30 Pro in some parts of the world, is not even a year old yet, but it is already at half its original price. $500 buys you a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is paired with 512GB of storage and a gaming-friendly 6.7” 144Hz FHD+ AMOLED display.

UK UK

Amazon UK has a couple of affordable 4G Galaxys on offer. The Samsung Galaxy A23 has a roomy 6.6” screen – a 90Hz PLS LCD with FHD+ resolution – and a decently sized 5,000mAh battery (with 25W charging). The Snapdragon 680 isn’t the fastest, but it is efficient, the phone got 130h endurance rating in our tests.

Of course, an elderly parent doesn’t need FHD+ resolution. For half the price, the Galaxy A04s brings a 6.5” HD+ display (still a 90Hz PLS LCD) and a slower Exynos 850 chipset. It still has a 5,000mAh battery, even if it charges at only 15W.

The next couple of deals fall in the “old but gold” category. The Asus Zenfone 8 will start receiving its Android 13 update in January and this might be its last major OS update. That said, it costs £256 less than a Zenfone 9 and is about as tiny as the newer, more powerful model.

The other option is a Google Pixel 6 Pro. This one will get longer software support – three OS updates (one down, two to go) and five years of security patches since launch. Even though it’s a year old, that’s still better support than you get from some Android makers.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro has been succeeded by the 12S Pro, which upgraded the original Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset to the 8+ Gen 1. The plus version is undoubtedly better, but there are a couple of issues. First, the 12S series never launched in India. Second, even if it did, it would cost more.

The OnePlus 10R is in the MediaTek camp with a Dimensity 8100-Max. It also has a 6.7” FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and a large 5,000mAh battery – this unit is the 80W version, which charges slower than the 150W, but no one will call a 1-100% charge in just over half an hour “slow”.

Indian carriers started rolling out their 5G networks earlier this year, but 5G phones can be pricey. The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G will connect you to the new network (thanks to the Snapdragon 695 chipset) while also letting you snap 108MP photos that you view on the 6.67” FHD+ AMOLED display (120Hz).

Not into 5G? The Redmi Note 11 lets you save some cash. The phone isn’t as capable as the Pro+ and has a smaller 6.43” 90Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 680 with less memory and a basic 50MP main camera. On the plus side, it does have a large 5,000mAh battery (126h endurance rating) and it comes with a 33W charger included.

The iQOO 9 SE packs the older Snapdragon 888 and a 6.62” FHD+ 120Hz display. We wish the 4,500mAh battery was larger, but at least it is fast to charge at 66W (full charge in 39 minutes in our tests, but it gets to 91% in 30 minutes).

There is also the iQOO Z6 44W, which yes, supports 44W fast charging for its 5,000mAh battery. This one uses the Snapdragon 680 and a 6.44” AMOLED display (60Hz).

Finally, something on the affordable side, the Tecno Spark 9 is in the Under ₹10,000 category and has a large 6.6” display (HD+, IPS LCD, 90Hz) and 5,000mAh battery. The Helio G37 isn’t particularly powerful, but having 4GB of RAM (and 64GB) storage allows it to run full-blooded Android 12 (this price range has no shortage of Android Go devices).

Dear GSM Arena those so called deals are pure robbery on a customer. To be honest here in Slovakia and neighbouring czech republic we have a web site called Heureka. Its either www.heureka.sk or www.heureka.cz depends on country you wish to shop...
