Notch Hater!, 08 Nov 2018What I want is a good 16:9 screen, with no notches, "edge" ... moreYeah, I prefer the 16:9 ratio, I guess the only downside is that some people find them too wide to hold in their hand with the large size handsets.
Maybe 17:9 would be a solution?
Note 9 is the tallest that I'll go with.

Kriegsherr, 08 Nov 2018Notch looks futuristic to some ugly to some. But to be hone... moreYes, because Samsung, LG, Sony & HTC (I believe the latter 2 lost it temporarily along with some customers) have the 3.5mm jack, some people seem to think that it's instead of the latest Bluetooth 5, or it can't have the IP68 dust/water proof (up to 1.5m for 30 mins), when clearly they have BOTH.
I prefer the choice of both, especially as wired is still better quality than wireless & there's zero latency.
I know that recent wireless headphones have improved alot in sound quality, to the point where it's actually worth getting a pair, I'll get a pair whenever I need/ want, like the Sony WH-1000XM3.
Notice these headphones include the 3.5mm jack for whenever needed, "The headphones come in a nicer looking and better feeling case, which manages to fit a 3.5mm audio cable, the USB-C cable and the plug adapter for in-flight use inside.":

I like being able to plug my phone into my car stereo or HiFi amplifier using the 3.5mm jack to L&R RCA's, & charge my phone at the same time.
If you haven't tried hooking up your phone to your HiFi, you should, it's awesome.
Last December GSMA did a Weekly poll: Do you still use a 3.5mm audio jack?:
https://m.gsmarena.com/weekly_poll_3_5mm_audio_jack-news-28641.php
69% voted for 'I do, wouldn't buy a phone without one':

This year it may be less overall, but any audiophiles on Samsung, LG, Sony & HTC it will be more.
In September 2016 when Apple launched the iPhone 7 without a 3.5mm jack, 46% (the majority) of their users weren't very happy about it, and said that they wouldn't get the iPhone 7:

iPhone hacker Scotty Allen found that there was space to put headphone jack back (29 Aug 2018):

What I want is a good 16:9 screen, with no notches, "edge" screens or rounded corners!
I waited for S8 but when I saw it I went for the normal S7!
*After 1 wear, full of problems, more than I expected!

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2018Lots of companies released phones way long before Apple. Bu... moreNotch looks futuristic to some ugly to some. But to be hones, it doesn't have any practical gain in real estate of the screen. Almost same with 3.5mm jack. What are you actually gaining by removing it? Almost nothing. 200 mah bigger battery? That translates to close to zero benefit. If you wanna buy a Bluetooth headphone, just buy it. And so far we know, Bluetooth connection doesn't depend on 3.5mm jack. So it doesn't need to be removed if you wanna listen to music on your Bluetooth headset/earphones. Not everything future brings is good or optimum. You have take the good ones and keep the rest aside.

Small waterdrop notch isn't a problem for me.
But, I hate big wide notches (Pixel and iPhone). They have software and hardware problems, that needs to be solved.
Also, modeling a website needs different code for iPhones and notched phones.
Look at this photo.

But don't worry about the 3.5mm jack, certainly the S10 & S10+ will have it & hopefully also the Note 10.

Why don't these companies take notice of comments on various sites stating exactly what we the consumers want.
These companies say they care about us but in reality only care about the shareholders.
Surely for the price of current high end flagships these companies could make custom phones that give each user exactly what they want.
The 1st company to do this IMO would be king without doubt.
The closest we have been to this would have been Project Aria which unfortunately never happened.

travstr, 08 Nov 2018I really think some of you over-exaggerate notches... they ... moreWe hate them because it makes the phone look ugly and the symmetry is lost. Not to mention they limited no. of notification icons and moved the clock to left on Android Pie on non-notch phones. Ridiculous. You don't get any real benefits of the supposed extra estate because videos get ruined by the weird notch in the middle, text gets cut off, status bar has been downgraded. Zero benefits to the consumer.

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2018Sony is closing down their mobile division in several Asian... moreYour right I saw those news too and it's disturbing news as well.
True it's uncertain but I hope they don't close or get out from the markets because Sony Mobile is the only computer division they. Sony sold Vaio and they don't make tablets so the phone could be their future of having a computerised solution since we are entering the foldable and microLED era
