"This allows one device to control others and data can be shared freely between all of them.", sounds perfect for any regime that want total access and control over everyone´s phones, and thereby everyone`s lives!

I wish good luck to Huawei. I was crying for their bad luck but no any OS is better than Android. iOS isn't better. I've used both. For computers Windows is the best hands down.

I am supporting Huawei, they don't need to bother too much, they can do sometimes better than Android. Android isn't the e'd of the world. If Huawei moved totally to harmony os, and Samsung, Xiaomi, and all the mid-range phones made in China move too, what will become Android?

I'd buy HarmonyOS stuff. Apple is closed system so that's a no starter unless you want to spend entire life under Apple's control. Android is more open but it is a monopoly and fully controlled by Washington. We definitely needs a competing open source alternative

People's perceptions of Harmony OS are so radically different in the east and the west that it's getting ridiculous. To clear everything off - no it is not BASED on Android in any way. In order for something to be called based on Android, core system components, kernel(s), compilers, OSAL and everything else need to be the same or at least significantly similar to each other. Some say that it uses a compatibility layer, but it is much more extensive than that, Harmony OS containerizes the entire Android system and runs it alongside Harmony system, but in the version 2.0 an ability to run native Harmony apps is yet to be implemented. This is also the version where on surface it feels and looks like Android the most(and ironically what most people perceive as Harmony OS, thanks to Huawei sending out MatePad to every reviewer), but you will soon see why it is not.
This OS has a closed beta variant (2.0 Beta 3) as well as its open source version OpenHarmony. OpenHarmony can be then divided further into several branches, such as L2, L3/L5. And yes, they all share largely the same codes for the core OS, while having some variations in kenels(Harmony OS is for devices with larger RAM capacity and uses Linux kernel, whereas OpenHarmony implements LiteOS kernel by default: You can opt for Linux or Harmony kernels if you wish).
Closed beta 3 can run Harmony apps as well as Android apps... but wait, how can Android run anything that is not Android apps? Here is my answer for you: you can't. The only reason why it can run Harmony apps is because... it is Harmony OS. Android subsystem(including adb) is completely pluggable and removing this will not affect how the OS behaves at the fundamental level, it can still boot, charge and execute Harmony apps without a single issue. But with all the apps gone missing, including basic apps like launcher or system UI, it will be much harder to use it as a phone for sure.
OpenHarmony on the other hand is expected to be used in IoT devices, so some of its branches do not have Android system installed. What this means is they are vanilla Harmony which can only run Harmony apps that use Harmony's API(There is a video of it running in the wild, go look it up).Of course you can't use adb because Harmony does not natively support it. L3 to L5 branches have Android subsystem and behaves more similarly to Huawei's version of closed-source Harmony OS.
Harmony is multikernel OS and you can implement generic Linux kernel, LiteOS kernel or Harmony kernel depending on the hardware requirements and expected usage thanks to KAL shielding the difference in kernel implementations. Android uses a heavily modified version of Linux kernel only. Harmony can run Harmony and Android apps. Android cannot run Harmony apps. Harmony only has roughly 18000 APIs right now and new ones are still being added. Android is a more matured OS and has over 30000 of them (on version 10). The number of lines for the key codes of Harmony is still only 1/3 of that of Android. Still suspecting they are the same? Go touch the actual codes, that is all I can say for now.

Huawei is not to be seen anywhere in my place. Their OS means nothing unless their devices can be available in the market outside of very few markets. I loved their Honor 10, Mate 20 Pro and Nova. All are workhorses and very high performing efficient, top of the line mobiles. Mate 20 Pro was one of the best mobiles I have used. Not sure about Harmony OS. Hope they deliver better value than Windows Phones

Please ADD move All apps to SD Card. My Internal Storage is 16GB and it still fills up my Internal Storage eventhou I selected Memory Card(SD Card) as default. Please fix this,theres just No Space left for any more apps to install.

Are unbelievably foolish
How do you compare the success of one operating system born under an essentially cold war between two major super powers America and China...
From being banned by America creating uncertainty of trade relations.. making literally every other Chinese company fear the same fate...
You are going to honestly tell me this OS will likely fail? You must be out of your minds
When this OS can be backed by billion plus people,
Windows was more a luxury , no real pressure to succeed and even worse in a country like America.. the anti options country where apple reigns

So who cares, honestly. Why are all people even arguing about: "CoPy, CoPy" when all customers should care about is good prices and products. I don't give a f... if any company just steals homework and presents something better/more optimized. I don't get any money for a companies success, so let them bash each other as long as it benefits me. Companies lie all the time anyway, I hate them all. I just want their products (sometimes).

Huawei will have theirown closed-ecosystem like Apple,, just not this year nor next year. probably 2023
widespread software availability and optimization isn't something you can get with just Money and Determination.

To be clear I voted it's promising, but that's because GSM Arena thinks completely polarizing polls are the only way to go. If there was a "it's just Android with HMS" option I would have chose that instead.
